“Such an idyllic spot with a true sense of ownership.”
Reviewed March 27, 2017 for a stay in March 2017

Happy Horse Cottage was a delight - we had a really warm welcome on the sunny March weekend and were shown the incredible facilities. We had all three cottages so felt like we really owned the place during the stay. Blu Brook, the main cottage, was a great communal space for those of all cottages to gather. The other cottages, which were great by themselves served as excellent shoot offs to find some peace and we didn't feel like we were sleeping on top of each other at all with all the space. Everyone on the farm was very nice and helpful. perfect for relaxing inside and out. Thank you so much!

“Excellent Xmas Break”
Reviewed January 1, 2017 for a stay in December 2016

Just spent Xmas week at Happy Horse Cottages as a base for a family gathering. This is a very comfortable barn conversion that has the advantage of 3 separate independent cottages (in terrace form) coupled with the ability to cater for 15 in the larger cottage. This worked perfectly for us, allowing large family evenings whilst also some independence for family sub groups.

The Cottages are very well appointed / equipped and easily coped with Xmas dinner for 15. They were warm (underfloor heating), cosy and have good beds (a problem we have had with other similar places).

Finally (and importantly) the owners live on site and we're very happy to advise on local walks, pubs and places to visit. They responded immediately to any request even to the point of fixing a cupboard latch that had broken despite this not being an issue to us at all

Would definitely return

“DO NOT HESITATE TO BOOK! Happy Horse Cottage it outstanding!”
Reviewed November 15, 2016 for a stay in November 2016

I would truly recommend Happy Horse Cottages to anyone! - Our entire weekend was absolutely fantastic and the 4 1/2 hour trip we made to Wales was completely worth it when we arrived at our incredible accommodation.

I had organised a group of 12 of us to stay here and we really couldn't have asked for any more. The three terraced cottages have been done up beautifully, they were warm (underfloor heating!!!!), welcoming and clean. We had all of the kitchen equipment (and more) that you could ever imagine (definitely more than enough to cook for 20+), the beds were super comfy and the bathrooms modern with an endless supply of hot water (all 12 of us)!

The surroundings are beautiful and the Horses on site are so friendly! We had lots of fun walking around the site to see them all. There is a little stream running through the site which is very pretty and there is actually a fire pit on site and 3 picnic benches for outdoor eating. When we return we will definitely be taking some wood to light a fire and toast some marshmallows.

Like other reviewers have mentioned, we had absolutely no signal so spent the majority of our time cooking and sitting around the huge table with board games and drinks. We did actually feel like we were in a different country.

We couldn't have been happier! Thank you to Nicky and the team for being so brilliant.

“Fantastic group accomodation”
Reviewed September 19, 2016 for a stay in September 2016

I stayed at the happy horse cottage for a long weekend at the beginning of September. I was part of a group of 15 and we all arrived late on the Friday evening. The owner was very happy to show us around and greet us (not withstanding that it was late and raining!). She had also very kindly made us a delicious chocolate cake. We had not brought food with us for the Friday night (and no takeaway was open) but she very kindly offered us some pizzas she had in the freezer. The accommodation was beautiful, with a lovely large dining table and spacious living room. The bathroom in the main house is also lovely and full of character. Generally we had a lovely stay and would thoroughly recommend it!!

“A great rural retreat”

We booked all three cottages for a hen weekend and even though it rained almost the entire time we absolutely loved the accommodation which meant the weather didn't bother us at all!

The main cottage is perfect for everyone to be able to socialise together and is really well equipped for catering for large numbers with all the crockery, utensils and fridge space you could need. The large dining table is great and lots of picnic table space out by the river would be lovely on a sunny day.

The remote location made it feel like a real adventure for our group, but it's still close to Brecon and some amazing outdoor activities. (Gorge walking is thoroughly recommended)

Ray and Nicky were very helpful throughout the booking process and on arrival gave a really comprehensive tour and were on hand to help with any questions we had.

Liked best: How well equipped the cottage was
Liked least: Some creaky floorboards add to the character, but make it difficult for early risers to not disturb the other sleeping guests!
