Good pub grub and cooked to order when you order. Pleasant staff and food but little atmosphere. Had just reopened and I am sure it will be good when the weather improves and holidaymakers from the canal full it up.

I have been to the Royal Oak on many times and have always found the food to be really well prepared and tasty. Steaks are a highlight!

On the hospitality side Tim and Liz are great hosts and the bar areas are cozy and warm, all you could want from a traditional British pub!

Summertime in the beer garden is also something to look forward to, in fact i can't wait for some sunshine to enjoy it again. Roll on the summer.

World wide people like to keep their favourite local places secrets, so not to lose what is truely special about that place. Having grown up in the Brecon area and spent time in most of the surrounding country pubs, I can honestly say that the Royal Oak is one of the very best, and my personal favourite. My family run a local bed and breakfast, we give honest advice on where is good in the area to eat and drink, with out doubt the Royal Oak is the first place to be reccommended to them, the next morning its always great to hear how much they enjoyed their evenings, great food, great local beers and atmosphere always mentioned. I regularly visit the Royal Oak in Pencelli and it's by far the most friendly and enjoyable pub in the area. The food is consistently great and prices are reasonable. The owners and bar staff are always friendly and accommodating. Local pubs don't get much better than this. Can't beat a pint of Rev James, sat at the bar chatting with Tim and Liz.

A great place to go for a meal or simply to have a social drink. It's relaxed, friendly and always a pleasure.
