Having just returned from a weekend hen party for my sister I cannot speak highly enough of Tall John's House and the experience we had! All 16 of us were blown away by the quality of the rooms, facilities and thoughtfulness and hosting by Liz, Ken and Archie. From using the lawn and grounds all day for games and activities, to the delicious supper, breakfasts and 3-course meal, there was nothing at all to fault! Excellent value for money and a truly memorable experience. Nothing we asked was too much, and it was such a shame to have to leave after the weekend fun was over - I'm sure that some of us will be back!! The photos do not do this house justice - you'll need to book and stay to truly appreciate how magnificent it is. Thank you for helping to host the best hen do I could ever have hoped to organise!
We have recently returned from a fantastic hen weekend at this amazing manor house. There were 13 of us in total and everybody felt extremely welcomed straight away by Archie and Liz. We spent the whole afternoon playing team games on the amazing grounds which we had free range of. The weather was on our side for the entire weekend! Ken cooked us a fantastic three course meal in the evening from a menu of our own choice and we were able to decorate the dining hall with our own balloons. All staff were very friendly and attentive but also gave us our own space to enjoy. For the evening 'the little events company' came to the house and set up a fun casino night which was brilliant fun. Liza was more than happy for them to set up in one of the front rooms which worked perfectly. The dress up box also came in very handy as we enjoyed quite a few drinks! The house itself is outstanding with the most incredible views. Some of the party stayed in the surrounding cottages which were cosy and modern and just a 30 second stroll from the main house. The bride to be had an amazing time here and we have made some fantastic memories which we will remember forever. Couldn't recommend this place more.
We took over Tall John's House and Honeysuckle Cottage for a family gathering. A beautiful house and location. The weather was glorious so the children had a great time playing in the garden as we sat under the trees enjoying a delicious lunch and catching up generally.
Liz the housekeeper was very welcoming and helpful and the chef produced a great dinner for us. It was ideal as no-one had to go off to prepare food - we could concentrate on enjoying ourselves. We were even provided with fridges to keep our drinks cool.
The house is well-equipped for all types of weather - the garden is lovely, and inside there is a snooker table, TV room with DVD player, and a large lounge area. For a smaller group, Honeysuckle Cottage was excellent - 4 bedrooms each with ensuite, a large kitchen and separate lounge. Great for a relaxing holiday in the country. We are hoping to make this a regular reunion venue.
We have just returned from a 3 evening break in this lovely manor house. The people make you feel so welcome we stayed at the house for the full break. We had our dogs and they were allowed to roam free in the garden. We could not have been more relaxed. Without hesitation would I recommend this place.
We stayed as a group of 14 for a weekend of walking and yoga. A wonderfully warm welcome from Liz with home made cookies. The yoga space was a perfect size for us. Ken cooked us excellent meals and provided a packed lunch for both of our walks. We were so pleased to be able to walk directly from the house with different walks on both days with amazing views over the beacons. We were totally blessed with surprisingly wonderful weather but even if the weather had been unkind to have spent more time in front of the fire in such a grand and homely place would have also been great. Thoroughly enjoyed by all of our group and highly recommended.
Last weekend my family travelled from various parts of the world to the Brecon to celebrate my husbands 60th birthday at Tall Johns house. We hired the whole manor and was well-looked after and pampered by Hosts Archie, Ken and Liz, all 20 of us were made to feel at home and comfortable. The hosts were absolutely lovely and were always there when we needed them. We had a fantastic weekend filled with sheer laughter, fun and dancing. Tall Johns House is definitely a place to fulfil and create new memories with family and loved ones. Every second was somehow made to feel magical in the home starting from the second we arrived to the second we woke up with snow to the second we left the doorstep. Without a doubt we will be coming back in the summer to see the picturesque landscape and explore more within the national park and of course not to mention to reunite with the wonderful hosts whom we are now proud to call our friends!!
Thank you very much for having us see you guys soon!
Hugs from the Le Maguet’s
My husband book a two night stay at Tall John's House , it was absolutely beautiful. We were offered coffee/tea and homemade cake on arrival, which was delicious. As it was cold Liz put an extra radiator in our room so we wouldn't be cold. we booked an evening meal for the two nights we were staying, all home cooked by chef Ken, it was fabulous.
