I would agree with the person who says it is a rather tired old hotel however it did suit me perfectly for one night. Yes my room was small but perfectly adequate for one person and very clean. It is perfectly situated and the food is delicious and abundant. The staff couldn't have been more helpful and were I to return (on my own) I would definitely stay here again!

This is a rather tired old hotel, which for what it delivers charges quite a lot. We booked on line and paid £70 for B&B.
The room had no curtains at the bathroom window, the toilet seat was loose and the bed was not very comfortable. We could not find out how to turn the light on in the bathroom, and their were small holes in the door.
It is a town centre hotel so its not quiet, the taxis made noise until past 1.30am and the noise started again at 6.30am when the street cleaners started.
The staff were ok, the breakfast adequate.

Room Tip: Get one at the rear if you want quiet

stopped by for a quick lunch whilst visiting Brecon for the day, it is one of the Brains brewey chain menu is good and varied, lunch was good with very quick service and the staff are an obvious asset to the Hotel, would definitely stop by again, recommended for a casual lunch or evening meal, but during weekend i imagine it would be the place to be for drinkers as its the only large pub obvious in the town centre, Well done to the staff that were working today!(july 16th 2012)

We booked two rooms for a two night stay on a walking holiday. The rooms were of a good size and the cost per room per night (£39) is good value for money. The hotel itself is a bit rough around the edges and not somewhere I would want to stay with my wife / kids. The rooms could all do with a lick of paint and a general tidy up and renovation. To be fair though, for the money I thought it was fine. The hot water was a bit problematic meaning a bath was a better option than a shower (unless you wanted to get burnt / cold!) The staff were all really nice, Im confused about some of the other reviews, as they generally were very helpful, friendly and nice. The food in the bar was good, we ate there on the first night and thought it was good value for money and nice.

My fiends room had some issues that could have been addressed very easily and cheaply, and I dont really know why a hotel would leave the panel on the bath half hanging off, or why a weird handprint above the bed wasn't wiped off!!

The walls are a bit on the thin side, and the plank who was in the room next to me thought it was OK to have his TV up so loud I could hear every word at 2am, and that affected the quality of my sleep, but thats not the hotels fault!

The rooms could have done with being a bit cleaner, as could the shared areas, but overall this place is fine for what it offers: cheap and basic accomodation. Just dont go with high expectations, and avoid taking a man / woman who you are trying to impress!

Room Tip: Room 15 is listed as a double, but has a double and a single in it. Room 14 had the dodgy handprint and the panel in the bath was hanging off

Priced modestly at £53 per night for a couple I was not expecting much. However the room was large, ensuite, clean and tidy with tea and coffee facilties. The decor was a little dated. No lift carry your cases,up stairs. Check in done by a very pleasant well mannered young woman. Breakfast was very good and other meals from a large typical pub type menu were of a good standard. Able to get parking all night on street outside the door although there is a public car park at the rear of the premise. A pleasant place to stay for a weekend.
