Room ok for price but due to misunderstanding with a food order they made us pay more for having less food!... Was suppose to be 2 meals for 9.99. They only changed one meal to the right meal then charges us the non offer price after we had eaten

The impression given by the outside of this property is not shared on the inside. Carpets loose on the stairs, potato chips underneath the breakfast table, fittings coming away from doors, windows that either don't open or don't close, dusty tables... A whole cacophony of small but irritating things that made this hotel stand out for all the wrong reasons.

On the positive side, the shower and heating worked, the staff were polite albeit very casually dressed, the English breakfast was served hot and there was free wifi. There is no on site parking, but this is the norm in Brecon.

Someone with an eye for detail who could follow up and generally smarten the place up is needed.

Second time ive stayed here on fishing trip

£46 b&b double room , ensuite bathroom and FREE wifi

Basic but clean rooms

Good pub food in the bar

Good service friendly staff

Perhaps not the place for thet special weekend with the one you love , but if you need a bed for the night , outstanding value

Good handicapped access - I was sporting crutches at the time - and good seating in the lounge and restaurant area. We just took advantage of the coffee and cake offer for £3.95 which was most agreeable. Our daughter had a tuna mayonnaise sandwich. and the total cost was £13.20.

The dining and snacks menu looks good.

Big open fire place with lots of comfortable seating.

Having booked a stay and then looked at recent reviews we decided to call the hotel and check again. They do not look at Trip Advisor - maybe they should. Bed bugs concerned us from other report. We were assured that the linen was changed using a commercial service and this turned out to be so - we had no problem in this respect. The bed was clean and comfortable. It must be pointed out that this is a typical faded coaching inn from former times and that the carpets are pretty poor in the bedroom (sticky and dirty) and the en suites a bit pockey but bearing in mind that the price was cheap (50 for b&b) I guess one has to accept that. There were no drawers to put clothes in so keep your undies in the suitcase. Basically you get what you pay for. We visit Brecon once a year but couls not get a booking for 4 days in our usual hotels.

Although in quite an imposing building the entrance is rather low key. The hotel reception is the bar so you may have to wait to get attention. Up the grand staircase into a warren of smaller staircases and corridors, the rooms are in need of some redecoration - but the things that really matter are well taken care of. Our double bed was comfortable, the bathroom clean with plenty of hot water and amply provded with fluffy white towels. So the dated off yellow woodchip paper and the peeling paintwork on the window didn't bother us and the uneven floors just added character. The hotel has a deal with the local council so that cars can be parked at the longstay car park by the theatre - at least thats how it worked for our saturday night stay. Dinner was good value and there are a couple of decent ales and the Wellington full breakfast is certainly filling. We found the staff very pleasant and friendly without being gushing. If you need a hotel to provided all the basics well and function as a good base rather than be a pampering experience then the Wellignton is perfect. I would certainly stay there again.

Stayed at the hotel last night and was perfectly satisfied fir £39. Great location in the heart of the town but not noisy. Old building full of character. Had a single room at the top of the building which was warm, clean and had everything needed. The food in the bar was good pub grub, competitively priced. The staff were friendly, polite and attentive. Would be happy to return.
