This is our 2nd visit to this wonderful little house at the foot of Snowdon in Llanberis, North Wales.
The house itself is charming, well equipped and in a fantastic location for most areas in North Wales. Four floors make this house small but spacious enough with the kitchen in the basement, living room and bathroom on the ground floor, 2 bedrooms on the first floor and a charming bedroom in the loft area.
1 week isn't enough!!
We spent a very lovely week at Ty Tal, at the foot of Snowden! The house itself is cozy with all mod cons - I particularly love a self-catering kitchen which has a good cooker and decent knives! House was warm, water was hot and the beds were comfy.
Ella was an attentive landlady, texting us a couple of times during out visit to make sure we were ok, and the tea and biscuits left out for our arrival were much appreciated. We were also grateful for her patience when we were too dimwitted to work out the DvD player. ;)
My partner and I love our wildlife and history, one of the reasons we chose the area as a holiday destination, and we weren't disappointed. Llanberis is in an excellent spot, not far from several RSPB/Wildlife Trust reserves and there are loads of local reserves to explore. Highly recommend the Porthmadog estuary and seaside for bird spotting!
As far as history is concerned, there are the castles at Caernarfon, Conwy, Beaumaris, Hever and Llanberis and other sites dotted around the area, including some very early burial sites.
Added to which, the scenery is just generally stunning. Take a swimming costume - the beaches on Anglesey and along the coast looked incredibly tempting!
I also suggest a meal at 'The Peak' in Llanberis itself. Although the food is presented in a fairly 'unfussy' way, it tastes absolutely delicious.
Word of advice, however - if you're hiring a car to travel around, choose a smaller model. There is plenty of parking and we didn't have a problem, but we were very pleased we had a Corsa-sized car. It can be a bit squeezy parking-wise!
All in all, we had a really lovely time, and I would recommend Ty Tal, and North Wales to anyone.
P.S. & N.B. Remeber your wellies/walking boots/proper waterproof coat! The weather was glorious apart from one day, but then it was a proper downpour!
A perfect location . 5 minutes and we were in the town , 10 minutes for the zip wire , Snowdon on your doorstep AMAZING loved loved the house especially the kitchen. Can't wait to go back again .
Nothing but praise for Ella and her terrace cottage.
