My husband and I stayed at the Padarn on 28th and 29th December 2012, although the room was quite basic it was very clean, we had a twin room and the bed was very comfortable, the shower was fantastic. We ate in the hotel on both evenings and the food was very nice indeed, we sampled the Lamb, salmon, gammon and t bone steak with a free bottle of wine on both evenings. The hosts were very welcoming and friendly. Thank you for an enjoyable stay.

Room Tip: We were in room 415 which was a twin room, we chose this option because we didn't think a 4ft 6i...

I stayed at the Padarn lake hotel last year on a kgb deal which I have to say was superb, we returned again this year looking forward to a return performance of the excellent food we sampled on our last visit only to find that the chef had been replaced and so had the quality of the food which i can only describe as dire.

Anybody thinking of booking a break in this hotel would be well advised to do what my wife and I did on the Second night of our stay and eat in the indian restaurant just up the street from the hotel.

The staff are very friendly and the hotel clean and you can see that the owners are doing what they can to refurbish the rooms. Drinks are reasonably priced my only critisism with the bar was the lady with false eyes serving us , most off putting..!!

Sadly we will not be returning to this hotel, such a shame because the food was of outstanding quality which was the reason for our second visit.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review following your recent stay at the Padarn Lake Hotel. I was disappointed to read your comments with regards to the quality of the food you are describing as dire.

We have received many phonecalls from people asking if the new Chef has started, and they are then booking for food as they hold his cooking in very high regard.

We have also spoken to our barperson in question, and can assure everybody that they will not be wearing cosmetic contact lenses whilst at work again.

It's a shame that you could not have told us in person about the problems you preceived before leaving the Hotel. I just hope that some of your comments do not damage the reputation of the Hotel in any way, expecially in such a delicate climate that we are all in at the moment.

I would welcome the opportunity to discuss your comments in person and regain your confidence in the Padarn Lake Hotel, and can be contacted via email at padarnlakehotel@btconnect.com or by telephone on 01286 870260

Was looking forward to a much needed tranquil break but with the hotel above a pub and being the centre of llanberis for kareoke got v far from this. Had tried very hard to focus on the positives ie the room was clean and the hotel had character, but ultimately a very dated room and trying to sleep to the soundtrack of the local nightlife do not make for a pleasant stay.

If your looking for a well run, friendly clean place to stay near Snowdon then this is for you.
Yes the rooms are basic but for what we needed which was a bed and a place to shower it was fine.
We stayed here as wanted to be close to Snowdon before climbing it, the staff checked the weather for us and the webcam at the top and told us some different routes up and how long it should take. The food they serve will fill you as the plates are full, breakfast was delicious, I had the full welsh both days. There is a quirky parrot in the bar area called George and he will talk to you and whistle which is very entertaining. We received nothing but great service and it always came with a smile, Rhian is very busy and always has a nice word to say and she didn't stop smiling! I forget the name of the man here but he was just as friendly and helpful, honestly the staff really make you feel wanted here, I would stay again in a heartbeat!

Stayed 2 nights in July, on a KGB deal, hence the "very good value" rating. Would not use this rating if list price. Room facilities OK, but could have done with a bit of TLC. KGB deal included an evening meal, but was very limited in choice. Glad we decided to order a steak off the standard menu, which was excellent. Full breakfast available each morning, which set us up for the day. Drinks prices in the bar were very reasonable, and was a pleasant place to while an hour away, but couldn't get the parrot to talk to us. With car parking on site, it's an excellent spot for exploring Snowdonia, provided you get it at the right price.

Me and my girlfriend ate here during our stay in llanberis, the food was great, we cooked our steak on the hotplate which was a first time for both of us and we thurely enjoyed doing so. With my 10oz rib eye steak came chips, onion rings, mushrooms, tomatoes, seasonal veg and on request I was given what seemed like unlimited mayo! I had lemon merangue dessert and it was amazingly good, the only downside was choosing between all 5 desserts on the dessert stand as they all looked amazing!!
I also want to add how lovely the waiters were, they really made us feel welcome and nothing was too much to ask.
Also, its great value for money here as round at 'the peak' restaurant you'll be paying around the same price as all the above just for your main course, which I think is scandalous.
And for George the parrot, I'm sorry I didn't want to play with you, as I came half the way across the country to get away from mine!!
Brilliant place to eat, thanks!

We stayed at the hotel on a 3 night KGB deal in October. The staff were very welcoming and friendly. The room we were allocated was comfortable, with a hairdryer provided and also tea/coffee making facilities. The radiators were individually controlled so we could set them to sut ourselves. The breakfasts provided were excellent with everything freshly cooked and using locally produced bacon and sausages. The portions were suffient but not overfacing. and they were well presented. We also ate in the hotel restaurant all three nights and were very impressed the the variety of choices on the menu and again with the quality of the food. Everyone eating at the same time as us also seemed to have enjoyed whatever they ordered, there was a lot of rubber-necking going on to see what everyone was ordering. We heard absolutely no complaints, just very positive comments on the quality and taste of the food. We were lucky with the weather and took a trip up Snowdon on the train - couldn't have had a better day for it, the sun shone and we had magnificant views at the summit. No cloud or mist, just a brilliant blue sky and sunshine all the way. If you are visiting this area try to make time for a visit to the Slate Museum, we went early afternoon and were there till we were more or less kicked out at closing time - fascinating place. All in all a brilliant visit. Would recommend the village, hotel and the local people and am looking forward to another visit before too long.
