This is a very interesting experience! A surge power station hidden inside a mountain - quite an unusual experience. It felt like a movie set!
You start with a video which explains the power station. Then you head onto a bus and are driven a short distance into a mountain. The road inside the mountain leads to caverns where the electricity production process is explained. It is a very interesting insight into this energy source - and educational for kids. The staff were very knowledgeable and friendly, and the exhibits were informative.
A couple of things to bear in mind - you must wear a hairnet and helmet inside the mountain, all your possessions need to be stored in a locker, so you will need a £1 coin for each locker, which you get back at the end.
I'm not sure if there were bigger lockers available, but my backpack only just fitted inside the locker.
The whole thing lasted 1hr 10 mins, (we got the final tour at 4pm) so we made use of the café, shop and loos beforehand.
It was a shame we couldn't take cameras/phones to take a photo inside the caverns, but I assume this was for safety reasons.
