Great location, fantastic views, ideally situated for snowdon, mountain railway and other attractions. Grounds lovely, looks great on the outside.
However, the food is awful, the rooms are dire and the staff are the rudest i have ever had the misfortune to come across. (as well as being overpriced)
The bar is open to the public and usually full of the out of work locals complaining about the english invading their village. I was greeted in the bar area on my second visit by one local who commented very loudly from the corner.....why we didn't go climb mountains in my our own [--] country?.............i don't think llanberis has ever heard of the word hospitality. However, this is still the best and only proper 'hotel' to stay in in llanberis with the best facilities, some of the others are even worse especially the dolbadarn.

Everything here was fine, the food was very good, only downside was the size of the rooms - very very small which is a great pity. It really was the smallest room I have ever stayed in.

Room was tiny and dingy, I think the last time the bathroom floor was cleaned was when it was built! The hairdryer was melted at the end. The corridors were dirty and carpets grubby, skirtings were unfinished with paint going up onto the walls. Breakfast was just awful, we got down at 9 and there were no clean tables every single one had dirty crockery and cutlery on, dust on the not very clean chairs, when we eventually found someone to clear a table it took 20 minutes for it to be done. There were no bowls out to put cereal in, not that they were good cereals, cheap and nasty! No juices out etc... When we got a table the coffee was awful, instant! The breakfast when it eventually arrived was a slimy greasy nightmare. All this for just £110!!!

I have stayed at a couple of Legacy Hotels, mostly out of necessity, and haven't found any of them to be any good.. This hotel is shabby and tired, the food is less than average and smacks of boil in the bag! Wouldn't choose a Legacy Hotel again, no matter how many deals they offer to get you through the door. Not a good experience at all. Sorry Legacy you need to sort yourselves out.

Having been to the Royal Vic many times before, I am suitable impressed from my most recent visit! What an amazing difference!
I regularly use the Royal Vic as a base, somewhere to unwind, shower and dine after walking - just a basic base. That's all it's been - but now! Wow!
It has suddenly become a destination hotel with rooms being refurbished and a major staff shake up. Sensibly priced, clean and the girls on reception are so welcoming! About time too and only what a historic hotel so conviently located SHOULD be offering!
Watch this space - I will be trying it again soon, and will report! But for now - ignore all the other bad reviews!! It's changing for the better!
