“Great Birthday Bash”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 2, 2013

16 family and friends stayed here for my 50th birthday and it was really good. The staff were very helpful and the location of the hotel was perfect for all the sights and attractions. We were able to book a competitive deal which meant the whole weekend was tremendous value.

We stayed here for 1 night on Saturday 29th Sept. I booked 6 rooms for myself and my team having completed the 3 peaks challenge.

I had a double room 235 which was very nice, lovely clean bathroom, a good shower and there was plenty of shelf space.
The room was bright and airy and the bed was very comfortable. I believe we paid around £79.00 and I shared my room with my husband.

We didnt arive until aout 19.30 and the reception was well prepared for our arrival, all our paper work was ready and we were checked in really quickly which was great as we were exhausted.

We went out for dinner locally but returned for a couple of drinks in the bar.
The next day we had breakfast in the restaurant, the buffet had a good range of cereals, breads, crossants and pastries.
Service was a little slow in the restaurant but to be fair to the staff it was incredibly busy, with a number of coach parties. The cooked breakfast was very nice, we all had full welsh and we certainly had no complaints.

Overall, the location is great for Snowdon, the staff were very efficient and friendly and our room was very comfortable. I would happily return to this hotel again if in the area.
A couple of our group had rooms in the annex area outside of the main building, they commented their room was a little dated, but still very comfortable.

Myself and my boyfriend stayed here for one night in September. The hotel is in the perfect location if you're looking to walk up to the summit of Snowdon during your stay! The hotel is right opposite the beginning of the most popular path to reach the summit. Overall, the hotel is slightly dated, but this was expected! The room was lovely, clean and had everything needed! There was even an ironing bored, iron, hair dryer and tea and coffee facilities. The walls are very thin, but this wasn't really an issue. There are several bars and restaurants in the hotel, there seemed to be a function In one restaurant, and the one bar was quite loud. We chose to go into the second bar area to have a meal. Food was okay, reasonable prices. Our breakfast was included in the price. The cereals, juices, fruit, yoghurt, croissants, toast etc. were self service. The cooked breakfast was brought to our table along with tea and coffee. The food was nice, but some of the glasses and plates at the self serve area weren't thoroughly clean which was a bit off putting. Overall, the staff were very friendly, facilities were good and the location was excellent!

We picked this hotel on a free ferry voucher deal, and so not expecting the earth. From initial telephone contact to booking the staff portrayed the Hotel well (bothering to ring back in in the evening before our arrival to confirm details, etc.) On arrival the welcome was friendly and even the house cleaning staff were happy to help where we got lost in some of the longer corridors. The evening meals are very reasonable value for bar snacks and a nice ambiance in the very traditional bar. Keen to explore the area, my wife asked for some directions to a local landmark and a nice touch was the receptionist taking the trouble to had write some detailed directions for us. It's the staff/people that make a place somewhere to return to - keep up good work.

We stayed for one night in a twin room facing the front of the hotel. We had been walking in Snowdonia and were tired on arrival, and we were welcomed with warmth and professionalism. Our room was on the first floor and wasn't the largest: however it was well designed with an en-suite bathroom with bath/shower sink and loo, and large enough for anyone's needs. The wardrobe contained an ironing board and iron with extra bedding. It was spotlessly clean with nice little toiletries.
There was a restaurant with a menu for £25 for three courses or a bar meal with two meals for £15. Service was first class, and the food was well cooked and tasty.
The cooked breakfast the following morning was excellent, with waiter service. A range of cereals, fruit juices, croissants etc were available at the buffet, and the breads and croissants were freshly cooked and delicious. The staff were efficient and friendly and nothing was too much trouble.
After breakfast we visited the castle in the grounds (Dolbadarn)- breathtaking views and well worth the walk. Bring your walking boots!
I would recommend this hotel: for the staff, the facilities and the fantastic grounds. There is also a decent car park at the front. I will go back, and wish we had booked a longer stay.
I simply do not understand the criticisms of some reviews.

Room Tip: Ours faced the front of the hotel and was a standard twin: it was quiet, modern with good facilities...

Spent 1 night here in September due to a hike we were doing in Snowdon.

The rooms were ok (twin room/2 single beds so quite small) and probably needed a bit of a scrub in the bathroom but nothing too offensive.

Parking at the hotel was a bit of a joke, all the space's were full and in the end we had to take our car down to a nearby camp site where some friends were staying.

I think if you are an overnight guest you should get priority really?!

Breakfast was good, great selection and I think for the cost it was pretty reasonable.

Finally the taxi situation is poor in the area, not a fault of the hotel but the 2 number's that they gave me to call - 1 was charging £20 for 2 miles and the other (a moble number) sounded like I'd just woke some guy up and he was coming from Bangor! Worth noting if you need to get around via a cab.

I'd stay again, and good for an overnight if in the area.

After reading so many bad reports on Trip Advisor about this hotel I was not expecting anything special, the weekend was booked by a friend who organised a climb up Snowdon so we had to go with what was booked for us. One reviewer on TA suggested that you book a refurbished room so this is what we did and we were given a nice room with a huge bed and a good bathroom.

We took breakfast in the conservatory with a beautiful view of the surrounding hills and it was excellent.with plenty of choice.

We had dinner in the hotel the first night it was cheap but nothing more than a bar snack, we did not try the restaurant so cannot comment on the food standard in there.

We would go back to the Royal Victoria next time we are in the area.

Room Tip: Ask for a refurbished room
