Dolbadarn Hotel
Ranked #14 of 14 Llanberis B&B and Inns

We had to stay at this hotel cause all other B&B have no more vacancies. We booked two rooms and the way to the room was creepy as the room is located away from other rooms. The rooms location was dark and creepy. The toilet had spider webs and the room's cleanliness was ok. The breakfast was delicious. Those who like to experience creepy and scary hotel, you should try this hotel. But the rate was quite pricey.

We recently visited this hotel and unfortunately had to stay here as other accommodation was fully booked due to a local walk. My overall impression was one of disappointment. Upon entering the hotel it was clearly in need of modernisation but we were not willing to let this put us off as we had been walking all day and was looking forward to a nice hot shower and to be able to relax. The gentleman who checked us in was polite, he handed us the key and we went to the room. The shower was running for 5 minutes and went from freezing to cold, knowing this I got in but had to use a kettle of hot water to rinse with and I almost cried with how cold the shower was, too tired to go downstairs and complain I carried on very quickly. The website states that all rooms have a colour tv, this was not the case and the bed sheets left a lot to be desired and looked like someone else had slept in them. The following morning we went down to breakfast and we were given a choice of cereal, toast and full english, all food was good. On checking out though we were disappointed we said to the young girl behind the counter that there was no hot water the night before and would they be able to do anything about this. She went and checked with someone and came back to advise that they would not be able to do anything as they had had the hot water on all day. The only thing I can think is that the other guests had nice hot showers!! If you experience this all I can say is get them to come to the room and feel how cold the water is and they may offer you a refund or put the hot water on again for you. Only stay here if you really have too the beds are dirty, the water cold, pre used soap, dirty towels and they only take cash and cheque no card payments. Hope this info is helpful. On a positive, this welsh fawlty towers hotel did bring us many chuckles (sadly at its expense)

I recently stayed, as a group of four in the Dolbadarn for two nights whilst competing in a 22 mile fell race around Snowdonia. On arrival, and after a very brief look around, we promptly tried to find accomodation elsewhere in Llanberis. All accomodation was booked for this weekend due to a number of events in the local area, and so... we endured.
I stayed in a single room, the 'safety' glass in fire exit door was completely cracked, but not replaced, nor were there any warnings about the state of it. The nearest shared bathroom had no toilet seat and no available shower attachment (just a jug in the corner) the suite was stained and painfully dated. I had no choice but to have a bath after the event, the water was tepid at best and shared old soap bars were all that was on offer.
I had to negotiate with my key to get my room door open at all. My room had damp in the corners, the taps made an awful racket when turned on (as did the neighbours). There was someone elses rubbish under the bin in my room (a large clothing label) odd 'bits' to the edge of the carpet where it had not been cleaned properly.
There was an old radio box on the wall directly above your head and an old analogue TV which obviously had no reception, so had no purpose being there. The decor was dated to say the very least and the net curtains were dirty.
We had advised the staff we were at the hotel for an early morning event and we were not told, at any point that a private (and very noisy) party had been booked in the bar below, which kept us all awake until 1230am, then a few party goers went to bed and continued to make noise into the night.
There are positives to our stay, the bed appeared to be relatively new, was comfortable and the sheets smelled wonderfully clean.
The staff were able to accomodate early breakfasts for everyone involved in the event, and were pleasant and friendly, although we were devastated by the unfortunate lack of sleep.
On checking out, we mentioned our concerns and had a small discount on the rate, but I would not stay here again.

The public areas are wonderfully outdated, slightly shabby, heavy furniture that it was fashionable to replace 40 years ago. Fortunately they haven't, making it atmospheric, with a wood fire and slate fireplace and floor in the public bar and a huge dining room for groups.

Breakfast was excellent; our room was modern, en suite but with no telly so we had to talk to each other. The only criticism was no real ale in the bar, when it was just the sort of place that looked like it ought to have it.

Oh and by far the cheapest b&b in Llanberis. £50/night for 2, where everywhere else was around £70.

Room Tip: Ask for en suite, not all rooms have it.

We were made to feel very welcome at the hotel which is family run, the staff were very helpful and friendly. It is perhaps a bit dated and tatty, but if you're bothered by this there are plenty more, more expensive hotels in the village!! The food was good, sunday roast espcially :D Good craic in the bar in the evening, and the rooms did the job. Also in a great location.

We were made to feel very welcome at this family-run hotel. The food was superb, and the quaint bar has a friendly, family atmosphere. Some of the furnishings are getting a bit tatty, but we found the rooms and dining area to be clean and tidy. I would say this place provides excellent value for money in a beautiful location.
