My daughter and I are regular visitors to The Ferns Guest House. We love the hospitality, the bright sunny rooms, the location and the lovely breakfasts.

Firstly Lynn and David Taylor are very welcoming and will assist in any way they can to ensure that we have a comfortable stay. They also provide all the information we could possibly need for trips out and activities that both my daughter and I would enjoy.

The Ferns appeals to me in that you are always aware that should you need any assistance that is available however you are given your own space in a home like environment.

I have and would recommend The Ferns to anyone.

Finally we have found the perfect B & B in Betws-y-coed, and why is it so perfect, well there are lots of reasons. We stayed at The Ferns for the first time over the Easter Weekend and having been to Betws-y-coed several times before we were amazed that we hadn’t stayed here before. Upon arrival we were greeted by Lynn who welcomed us into their Guest Lounge and offered us tea, coffee and biscuits, fantastic after a long journey. After going through the formalities Lynn then spent 10 minutes trying to book us into a Restaurant for something to eat later that night, no mean feet on Good Friday, nothing was too much for the hosts but they didn’t intrude on you, they didn’t have too as everything was so professionally run. We stayed in Room 3, a beautiful double room at the front of the house overlooking the forest and river across from it, the room was spotlessly clean, warm, had plenty of space and had a good shower, what more could you want. My husband who has his own business, needed to check on some Emails, again this was not a problem as we were given the Wi-Fi code, instead of working in the bedroom, my husband completed his work out of the way in the cosy Guest Lounge, fabulous. A short stroll from the Guest house and we were in the bustling village centre, this is another great point for the Ferns, it is as the owner’s say at the quieter edge of the Village, this is spot on after sampling a very busy Easter Vacation in the area.

The Ferns does exactly what it says on the tin, great rooms, the perfect location, wonderful hosts and the best breakfast we have sampled on our travels, thank you Lynn and David, we will see you again soon.

We stayed at The Ferns for a 4 day break and we were most pleased. We arrived tired and stressed after a long journey and were offered a pot of tea in the lounge by David, which was most welcome. We were in room 3, which was adequate in size, although the on-suite shower was rather cramped. The shower itself was fine with plenty of hot water, but the step up into the cubicle itself was higher than we have usually found, which could be a problem for the less able; also the cubicle door didn't open fully due to the position of the sink.We were at the front of the house, and although we live in a quiet rural road, we didn't find any problem with road noise at night. The bed was very comfortable - neither too hard nor too soft, so we slept well.
The cooked breakfast was very good, but we had to choose our option when we arrived. I changed a couple of items for the next morning after breakfast twice with absolutely no problems. Lynn whized around serving breakfast with great efficiency and a huge smile! There was a choice of cereals, porridge, prunes, grapefruit, apricots, yogourt, but no choice of juice - just a very good orange. They have a time-slot of 8.00 - 8.30 for breakfast, with no variation, but that suited us just fine.
Parking was available on the sloping drive, and if there were more than two cars they request that you move off the drive each morning onto the free road parking to avoid blocking anyone in.
It was only a few minutes walk from the varied food options of pubs, hotels and restaurants.

We were at the Ferns for three nights, using it as a base to see as much of North Wales as possible. The Ferns is nicely situated right in Betws-y-Coed itself, with all of the restaurants and shops in easy walking distance. As we were driving around I saw many of the other B&B's I had considered and how far out of town they were-- we certainly appreciated being able to walk around the lovely little town.
The rooms weren't fancy (husband and I in a double on the first floor, our friend in a little single on the the second), but they were good value for the money and clean. We stayed places with more amenities, but they were also more expensive, so there you go. The owners were friendly without being intrusive and gave good advice when asked. Being welcomed with tea after a LONG drive our first day was much appreciated, and their sitting room was cozy and handy for the three of us to hang out together in the evenings.
Betws is in a good location for exploring Snowdonia and the northern coast, and the town is beautiful. Don't pass by the blink-and-you'll-miss-the-entrance Swallow Falls north of town. All in all, a lovely few days.

I stayed at the Fern's for my first trip to Wales, the location was excellent, I came by train and it was only a couple of mins walk. Great location for all surrounding site seeing. The single room I was in was average, the en-suite wasn't the greatest and I personally would have expected a better quality for the price. Room was very basic but clean but the tv signal was pretty poor. The hosts were very informative and gave me a lovely welcome and even had menu's of places to eat for dinner...I recommend The Staples, lovely and offering a great range of food. The only downfull was the breakfast, the food was excellent however I found the 8-8.30 time slot very inconvenient and the fact that you had to order your cooked breakfast the day before very strange and if you didn't change it they presumed you wanted the same thing. I changed my order for the following day however this was forgotten and I was served the same breakfast, just making it more annoying that I'd had to order the day before, and the small time slot means everyone comes down at the same time making it busier. Overall my experience was a good one.

Spent August Bank Holiday at The Ferns and thought we would write a glowing review. This is a lovely clean B and B with excellent hosts, Lynn and David. The location is very good as there are two great restaurants (plus pubs and other restaurants that we didn't visit) within a 10 minute walk so no driving in the evening. These are called 'The Bistro' (not to be confused with the Stables Bistro, part of a pub) and 'Ty Gwyn'. Both were recommended by the hosts and both were spot on. Not too expensive, good wines and lots of lovely food. Lucky we did so much walking really...... Betws-y-Coed itself is also a good location for walking in the Snowdonia National Park. Plenty of parking adjacent to it and a discount outdoor shop if you forget your walking socks.

The hosts are lovely, they kindly left our keys out as we arrived late on the Friday night (we have had B and B owners cross at us for arriving late before when stuck in traffic), and they were also kind enough to put our wine in the fridge for us the next day when we asked. Breakfast was excellent, and although there is a menu to choose from they were quite happy for us to basically select bits that we wanted, to avoid wasting food that we didn't want. Again, we have been to B and Bs where they have made us stick rigidly to the full English or nothing. It was also very nice to get into a cool room when we arrived, rather than the usual baking hot stuffy B and B rooms where the heating has seemingly been set to tropical all day before you arrive.

All in all we would highly recommend this guesthouse and we hope to return next time we are in North Wales. The owners also have a self-catering holiday cottage out the back, and you are allowed to come in for a cooked breakfast in the guesthouse if you want!

Welcomed at the door of this lovely stone home with a pot of tea and registration completed whilst relaxing in the lounge. The room was not large but adequate and the bed was supurb! Breakfast was wonderful with a nice range of cereals and a great hot plate! And what a lovely surprise...no need to quietly slip a banana into your bag "help yourself to the fruit for your day's travels"......
The helpfulness of Lynn and David was exceptional as was their smiling and warm demeanour. An absolute MUST STAY if you are visiting North Wales
