If you want a very welsh experience this is it. On arrival we were welcomed with homemade welsh cakes by native-speaking Gwarn. I cannot fault Pengwern Country House and the welcome received by our host, Gwarn. She couldn't do enough. The welsh breakfasts, like everything here, are of the highest quality with excellent catering for vegetarians also.
Our room had its own hallway and large bathroom with every lttle touch you could wish for. Pengwern is a beautiful rustic country house with antique furnture with a very grand sitting room and dining room.
This is our second visit and intend it to be our base whenever we visit Betws-y-Coed.
You have to try this out!

I took my girlfriend here for an Easter break surprise. i look at so many different B&B looking at quality and price, and after much research i choose this. it turned out to tick out every box, its an extremely lovely place to stay, the room was good and had high sealing making it feel very spacious, and the people were very helpful, and have a great knowledge about the area. there is 3 room so your not staying with a lot of different people so it gives it a more exclusive and personal feel. the only little miss is their own website which don't have that great photos, but looking on the tripadvisor you will find what you need. for a romantic break in northern Wales this was worth every penny

A house previously associated with a community of artists, Pengwern provided a stylish, comfortable, friendly and relaxed base for four days of extensive walking/scrambling. Nothing was too much trouble and our needs were anticipated and more than fulfilled. The breakfasts were excellent and the recommendations for restaurants in the village were highly appreciated.

Just loved the Studio, a self catering idyll. Very welcoming, everything we needed with help on hand, but not intrusive. I fancied living there permanently! Very well situated nr. to Betwys y coed, and therefore easy to reach other places of interest.

After a long, tiring journey and although we arrived early we were given a warm welcome and shown our very relaxing rooms. And such great bathrooms! Everything we needed was there. Plus the sofas, books, DVDs and magazines in the downstairs sitting room, plus the perfectly cooked breakfast, plus local history - and it turned out that our Welsh family (we had come visiting) had known Maggie Plas many years ago. We could only stay for two nights - wish it had been longer. A shimmering rainbow stretched across the valley on the morning we were leaving. I hope we'll be back.

Went for a couple of nights - partner booked as a surprise for a birthday stay with our teenage son. Greeted with candle for my birthday cake and a pot of tea! Went to room and flowers and a birthday note left. What lovely touches.
The rooms were tasteful, roomy, lovely en suite bathrooms, comfortable beds - no tv in rooms which was fantastic, but if you did want to succumb there was a magnificent lounge with a range of dvds.
Views were gorgeous and at night the bats came out!
Breakfast was amazing. Home made glamorgan sausages for the veggie.
Couldnt have been more helpful without being overly attentive and the attention to detail all throughout the accommodation was superb. Internet access for the teenager.
All in all a very idyllic place to be and we will definitely go back.
