A great location on the outskirts of Betws, just inside Snowdonia National Park surrounded by any number of beauty spots, activities and walks. The host (Tim) was brilliant from start to finish. Would definitely recommend and definitely go again.

Having returned from our three night stay in the Sorrell Suite from the 18th to 21st March 2013,
What can we say but Fantastic, the welcome given by Tim is unmissable, yes you do have to take your shoes off, but there is a convenient boot room by the front door and slippers are provided if needed. The whole house is beautifully decorated and kept to a fantastic standard. You cannot fault the homely atmosphere, and the want by Tim and Di for your stay to be perfect in every way.
The Sorrell Suite was of extremely high standard quiet and very cosy, The selection for breakfast is vast and all locally sourced, you could not ever go away from here feeling hungry, as all our full English breakfasts were perfect especially the last two (Sorry Tim ) Thanks Di.
We cannot recommend this B & B highly enough, and look forward to returning.

Must admit it is a few years since we stayed here, but just about to book again for a spring break, so on reading the reviews decided I ought to have my say !

We stayed with Tim for a two night stay and stayed in The Alice Suite. An amazing room and bathroom, nothing like a nice hot bath after a very long walk. The breakfasts were amazing, excellent choice and quality and a beautiful breakfast room.

The house is beautiful and I am sure all 5 suites are equally as good albeit some smaller than others.

I would recommend, and indeed already have, Afon Gwyn to friends and hope they enjoy as much as we did.

The village is lovely and some excellent restaurants to eat dinner, and Tim will help you book and direct you as appropriate.

Excellent location for some lovely walks, and indeed easy access to Mount Snowdon.

Can't wait to return.

Room Tip: Any of them !

We stayed here from 14-17 March 2013 in the Sorrell Suite. Excellent stay . Comfortable, extremely well furnished with obviously high quality items and stylishly decorated. In particular, the Sorrell Suite bathroom (as a whole) deserve particular mention. We found Tim to be very helpful and made us feel at home, As for taking your shoes off (which some seemed to be offended at) its because they have cream carpet we were more than happy to do this ( make you feel at home ) and they supply slippers to wear.
Thank you Tim

We booked a 3 night stay at this converted workhouse at the last minute and were royally rewarded. The owners were very helpful in making recommendations and bookings for local restaurants to the point where having been informed that we were arriving late (after 8.30 pm) they managed to sneak us into probably the best restaurant in Betws. The room we had was spectacular - the Alice Suite - with a huge bathroom, bed and tv/lounge area. The breakfast room was light, airy and spacious. The only reason we have not given this review a 5 is that the room was affected by road noise in the mornings - although if you are used to the hustle and bustle of towns and cities you may not notice this. We would also recommend bringing head torches if you intend to walk to the local restaurants, as the House is located a good 20 mins walk from Betws and 10 mins from the nearest restaurant and there is a lack of street lighting and often a lack of pavement. The upside is that if you get a clear night sky, it looks amazing!

Room Tip: Stay for more than a couple of nights and hope to get upgraded!

Stayed here for 2 nights for my birthday with my boyfriend and I absolutely loved it.
I've been to plenty of hotels and B&Bs and this place is by far the nicest I've stayed in.
We were made to feel incredibly welcome and the owner was very friendly and helpful.
The breakfast that's included is amazing, most which is homemade. It's a continental one, but there is an option for a full English or others for a small additional charge.
Rooms are good sizes, with plenty of commodities.
The only thing I'd have a grumble about would be the location if I didn't have a car. Perfect if you love walking as it's in a beautiful area, and about a 20 minute walk into Betws-Y-Coed itself and a quick drive. I could imagine that would be an issue for elderly people who have travelled by train or coach.
I genuinely have no complaints though, I'd love to go back!

We had 3 rooms here in autumn 2012 - The Alice Suite, the Sorrell Suite and the White Room.
All were excellent. Comfortable, extremely well furnished with obviously high quality items and stylishly decorated.
In particular, the Sorrell Suite bathroom and the Alice Suite (as a whole) deserve particular mention. The latter being large enough to have its own lounge area!
The breakfasts were excellent and served with the ever-present friendly charm of the owner. As good as the place is (and it is) it is this service that really makes it stand out.
