Another excellent visit to Bryn Afon. Mike and Rachael made us feel more like old friends than guests. Breakfast again lovely, full Welsh lovely and i would recommend the mushroom omelette. We stayed in room 6 at the top of the house and the views were breathtaking.

Already looking at booking again for later in the year.

Room Tip: Room 6 excellent

We stayed there for 2 nights during our trip to Snowdonia. Here are what we thought were great features and what could be improved:

The Good:
-The B&B itself is in a great location just next to the Pont Y Pair bridge and close to lots of great restaurants.
-The owners Mike and Rachel are very friendly and thoughtful in the way they run the B&B (trays outside for muddy shoes, daily localised weather forecast for Snowdon).
-The rooms are clean and have great views.
-Great cooked breakfast with locally sourced ingredients.
-We were given great recommendations for local restaurants

Improvements:
-The rooms although cosy, are quite small. It was hard to fit more than 1 small case in the room as there are no obvious walkways or clear spaces to put them.
-The B&B has a no heating policy in the summer, and from the summer we are having, it did get a bit cold duirng the night and also in the bathroom.
-The shower's water pressure was quite weak, and after a day of muddy, sweaty walking, a powerful shower is very much needed.
-We ordered a omelette for breakfast one morning, and what came instead was a piece of fried egg folded over with mushrooms inside. So not sealed in or any cheese! So maybe an improvement on the omelette recipe.

Hi, thank you for choosing to staying with us. We are disappointed to find out that you feel that these specific improvements are required as we would like all of our guests to experience an enjoyable stay at Bryn Afon. It is a great shame that you felt unable to speak to us regarding any of your concerns during your stay, in light of the fact that you found us very friendly. If you had done so, I'm sure that we would have been able to have helped you out.

The rooms you stayed in; rooms 4 and 2 are quite different. Room 4 is realistically described on our website as a compact double, and room 2 is a double ensuite with very obvious walkways around the bed and to the ensuite.

We are sorry that you felt the cold. We do not have a 'no heating policy' in the summer; in fact the heating has only been turned off for one week this summer in May. The heating has been coming on morning and evening. The radiators in the bathroom and bedroom can be thermostatically controlled by guests. This 'policy' is in our guest room information and was explained to your husband on arrival. Unfortunately Mike had left the windows open to air the rooms and apologised for the cool rooms at the time of your arrival.

Thank you for alerting us to your thoughts about the shower pressure - we have since double-checked the showers in all rooms and found no issue, and have also spoken to guests who have subsequently stayed in rooms 2 and 4 and they were more than happy with the shower pressure. An unvented mains pressure water system was installed at Bryn Afon only a few years ago.

All our breakfasts are freshly cooked to order, there are different ways of cooking omelettes (either with or without the ingredients integrated). Since a mushroom omelette was ordered, then cheese was not included. Nonetheless we are always happy to accommodate requests as best we can, if asked.

A great place to stay in Betws-y-coed. Central location with easy walk to all the local restaurants and pubs. Car parking on site. We have a great view looking out over the river. Breakfast was also very good. Mike and Rachel are great hosts, very friendly and have a great knowledge of the area. Well recommended.

Knowing little about Wales, I consider Bryn Afon to be a very serendipitous discovery. The first thing that grabbed me about it was the picture; I doubt there are many places that look quite as pretty. The same can be said for the inside. It is a very aesthetically pleasing place, and spotpessly clean to boot. The owners were incredibly friendly and appeared genuinely pleased to have us there. The thing that stood out the most about them was that they were very knowledgeable about the local area; we arrived on a rainy day, expecting to have very little to do. However within 15 minutes of walking inside, we had plenty of ideas for rainy day activities. There is a weather report available each day on the bulletin board, not only for the local area, but for Snowdon, too. The breakfasts were of a high quality, all consisting of locally sourced ingredients and large enough to set us up for our day nicely.
I cannot say a bad word about our experience at Bryn Afon and I'm sure I'll have the same to say on our future visits.

Have just arrived home after spending a blissful couple of days at the Bryn Afon. Mike and Rachael are lovely and take the time to chat to you. They have a good knowledge of the village. We stayed in room 2 and the view from the window is fab. The room is spotlessly clean and the bed is really comfortable. Breakfast, cooked by Mike is excellent. Already looking into dates for later in the year to return. Can't wait

What a great couple of days at Bryn Afon wish we could have stayed longer, this will be our first choice guest house in Betws-y-Coed. Mike and Rachael are a lovely down to earth couple and so welcoming. The breakfast was excellent. We got some great advice from Mike on walks and good places to eat. Highly recommended. We'll be back definitely.

The Bryn Afon is a wonderful place run by an awesomely nice couple. I would recommend this B&B to anyone. It sits in a wonderfully beautiful location near very nice dining. The only proviso I would offer, which has nothing to do with the B&B is that anyone visiting Wales should remember that restaurants and pubs stopserving food by 8:30 or 9:00. I would definitely go back for a longer stay.
