“Disappointing”

Conwy Valley Railway Museum & Model Shop

Was expecting more of a museum than a model shop. After really enjoying Rhyl minature railway we decided to give the mini train a miss as worked out quite costly for the 7 of us for only a few minutes. Also you have to pay for the museum and railway separately which was just not worth it for us.

My son really enjoyed it. A must if you are travelling with the family. A great value little attraction, and a brilliant ten minutes (ish) ride on a mini train for £1.50 per person.

Next to the miniature train is a converted old style train carriage that has turned cafe.

Would go again and definitely worth popping to see if you are in Betws-y-coed.

Not much there, wouldn't say its an attraction at all, but it killed a few minutes whilst we were waiting for candles to be made at the shop around the corner.

Purposely went to Betws y Coed to visit the Museum, but was frankly disappointed.

To call it a railway museum is a bit of a misnomer; it is more a railway MODEL museum. Some quite nice models but too many of them you have to pay to get them working, and even the ones that were free didn't always work.

The shop was well stocked and the older gentleman seemed well informed.

The railway rides are extra and are more suited to children.

The cafe in the coach we thought disappointing. You can get a better lunch in the "proper" station across the line.

One person who will NOT be going back.

Lovely enthusiastic friendly staff and a very interesting museum.
They also had a miniature railway for the children. Well worth a visit if you are a railway enthusiast like my hubby .
