“Clean but very basic”
Reviewed May 22, 2013

Stayed for a couple of nights in May and overall disappointed with our stay at this hotel, the website is quite misleading and unfortunately the hotel didn't live up to expectations.

Twin room was in the annex outbuilding rather than staying in the main hotel which wasn't made clear on booking over the Internet. Room was clean but very basic. Bedding was ok. Shower
temperature was hit and miss. No hair dryer in the room and wifi only worked in main hotel.

Breakfast was of noticeable poor quality, especially the sausages and bacon.

Would also add that whilst the barman friendly, we found that some of regulars were a little intimidating and smoking dope!!

Overall would have expected much better from a 4* hotel, but reasonable value given the price. Would stay somewhere else in future.

This review contains incorrect and illegal allegations which have no foundation. We are not aware of any "dope smoking" inside or outside the property and would ask you to remove this review immediately as iti s highly defamatory. If the complainants had noticed this activity going on why where we not informed so appropriate action could be taken? Also our rating is clear on our website - 4* Inn (Visit Wales) - not hotel - many people do get confused by the rating system but they should have researched further. Our 2* hotel rating is also noted.

Myself and my wife had a two night B&B stay at this hotel. Although I was familiar with the area, I had not stayed at this hotel before. I was pleasantly surprised by the location of the rooms, which are situated at the back of the main hotel building. This is a big plus, as it is all the more peaceful away from the public bar and restaurant. The rooms are comfortable and clean, with sufficient storage for your clothes. We had our evening meals at the hotel, which were very good and reasonably priced. If you have young children, then the hotel has a number of facilities to keep them happy e.g. outside play area, table tennis room etc. Outside the hotel you can go and see the Swallow falls (£1:50 per person), which is a picturresque location. The village of Betws-y-Coed is about 15 minute walk, if you want to do a bit of shopping. I would certainly recommend this hotel and its lovely location.

Absolutely brilliant walking break, have come back so relaxed. The staff couldn't have been more helpful and friendly. The area is staggeringly beautiful. Due to snow on the mountains had to stick to lower level walks by the river, but in no way was I disappointed by this, especially as they ended up with a few pints in Betws y Coed.

Will definitely be returning to explore this area more,( three days was not enough) and will be certainly using the Swallow Falls hotel as our base again.

A pleasant two day stay in a family room in a lovely location in the heart of Snowdonia. All the staff were very pleasant and helpful and room was sizeable, clean and tidy. The kids enjoyed the bunk bed (like young ones do!) and the double bed was comfortable. We enjoyed the pub type food in the evening, the steak pie special was delicious and our young children enjoyed their food. Nice touch was the kids games and books in the "Tavern". Only two minor gripes was a lack of water pressure on the shower and WIFI not reaching inside our room. However, have to stress these are very minor in the context of the good value budget price we paid (through a booking site that isn't groupon!!).
