Our visit to the falls followed a day of heavy rain, so the falls were definately worth a visit. Don't forget to take a £1 coin to get through the entrance turnstile.

Stunning to see, especially with the sun shinning on the falls. We went there quite late in the afternoon and were glad it wasn't very busy as the viewing platforms are quite small. Despite that the falls are beautiful to see.

Swallow Falls are magical waterfalls surrounded by trees. There are quite a few steps down and you need to take care as it can be slippery. Its a relaxing place and the sounds of the waterfalls are wonderful. There is a small entry fee when you enter from the road. Its a place thats well worth a look.

A year or so ago we visited the falls - the first time since I was a very small boy. Easy parking in the lay-by as other reviewers have remarked, plus have a cup of tea in the hotel opposite if you want. We visited on a rather busy day, so you had to wait a little to get your vantage point and photo opportunities. Half an hour or so for a visit. Really beautiful scenery. There are a couple of levels from which to view.

Now - how about doing it the hard way.

Having stayed in Betws y Coed recently we had some local knowledge. Our B&B was up the lane on the other bank, so about a third of the way there already. We walked up the lane, through the forest, up and down some trails (a few to choose from !!) negotiated some muddy slippy paths - but you are rewarded by seeing the falls from the other side with no other people around, apart from the people opposite at the official viewing point. There is a bench where you can sit and view the lovely falls. A bit further along you have a fallen tree which gives you another resting place and a different view of the water before it reaches the falls.

If you park in the centre of town, cross the bridge and turn left, up the road, avoiding the temptation to do the walk there (but worth doing also), then it will be about a 55-60 minute journey on foot. To be safe check locally for directions as we went wrong on a couple of occasions. If you are into walking that sort of terrain then it is definitely worth it.
