Stayed 2 nights, loved the location and the traditional coaching inn features. Betws-y-Coed and its surrounding areas are very picturesque. There are 12 rooms and we stayed in room 3 which has an en-suite with a fantastic spa tub. Some fixtures and fittings were in disrepair but added to the quirky feel of the hotel. We booked an evening meal in the restaurant both nights and it was very enjoyable. My son who was due back at uni had room 1 which was ideal for one person and was a lovely quiet little room at the back of the hotel. The staff were fantastic and very welcoming on arrival and throughout are stay. Just one complaint was that we were kept awake one night as we had room (3) above the bar and there was some late night drinking which is fine (I like an extended drinking season myself) but according to the hotel manual the bar had to be vacated by midnight. All in all a lovely place to chill out and admire the surrounding area of Betws-y-Coed. Would stay again but a little to pricey for us to stay every time we visit the area so has to be a treat once in a while.

Room Tip: Rooms away from the bar and road would be quieter

Thank you so much for coming to the Ty Gwyn to stay with us and sorry about the noise issue, the bar does close at midnight, but sometimes restaurant guests do use it to wait for their taxi. We look forward welcoming you back in the future.

We recently stayed here recently for four nights - a quaint inn with character, creaky floors and charm. The food was excellent and comes highly recommended. In the evening, we preferred eating in the bar area - seemed more relaxed and led to some pleasant interaction with other diners. Our room - room 3 - was very clean and attended to on a daily basis. Once the duvet cover was replaced ( several buttons missing ) we had no complaints whatsoever. However, had we been light sleepers the busy A5 main road outside would have been a problem. Fortunately that did not affect us and we slept well. We enjoyed our stay but would understand others might eperience problems.
If you die when you sleep you'll love it, if you wake at every sound you wont.

My husband and I stayed at the Ty Gwyn last weekend. Martin and his wife are very welcoming. The food was fab and room was lovely. Even if you were in the area I would advise a booking in the restaurant in advance as it is really popular.

We lunched here a little while back which put it on the short list when we planned a longer trip to North Wales.
Outside a long, low building beside the A5 as it enters Betws y Coed, Aro.und 16th C I would guess.
Inside a bit of a warren, thick stone walls, pictures, lots of interesting stuff, and a complicated staircase.
Smiley, cheerful, "How can I help you?" people.
Warm and cosy.
That's all fine but he point of the place is the food.
The menu is far ranging and a stunner.
Had I known better I would have arrived with a couple of spare notches on my belt. As things are it's back in the diet. Sure I don't have to eat it but you try stopping yourself.
This is not a place for the museli and carrot stick fraternity but the rest of us will be just fine, if a little plumper.

Just returned from a 2 night stay where nothing was too much trouble. We wanted to stay in room 9b but it was only available our 2nd night so we stayed in room 3 the 1st night and moved to 9b the 2nd night. Both rooms were perfect, clean and just like the picture, the staff even moved our bags in there for us while we were out exploring fairy Glen and Conwy Falls. The food was amazing, top quality, local produce cooked to perfection, unless you want to eat fast food ie, burgers or fish fingers.
We will definitely be back for another top quality break.

We returned to Ty Gwyn for a weekend break having been many times before. It is a lovely hotel that is full of character, as you would expect with such an old building. The bedrooms are very nice and comfortable. As usual, the food was fantastic with a large selection of local seasonal produce. The staff are always very friendly and helpful.

We had a lovely evening meal at this restaurant.

There was a good selection of dishes on the menu. Some reasonably priced and some a little steeper but it was worth paying that bit extra for something a bit more special.

All three courses were well presented and flavoursome.

Staff were friendly and the overall service was good.

A restaurant to return to again.
