“Nice looking restaurant, friendly staff, tasty food, haven't stayed at the hotel though.”
Reviewed June 13, 2011

We've stayed somewhere else and stumbled upon this place while searching for food.
Because of that we can only speak for the restaurant experience.

In comparison to other restaurants in the area we have tried we would definitely say the staff is more friendly and professional. We also liked the restaurant's bright furniture and decor which was compensating for the lack of sunshine outside (Wales, eh..).
The food (steak&ale pie and lasagne with side salads) was looking and smelling very appetizing (nicely dressed with some veggies), served quickly (although there was only a handful of customers at the time) and was proper hot - as it should be after being exposed to bad weather on a scramble up Tryfan. The chips were phenomenal - although thick cut they were crispy, not too fatty, piping hot and made with no reject potatoes, as it sometimes happens.

Charming and cosy hotel in the hear of Snowdonia.

Pros:
- fantastic location, 5 min away from the station and cafes yet quiet and relaxed
- friendly and welcoming staff
- decent breakfast with a very stylish breakfast room
- very charming building
- cosy and also charming rooms, some of them rather newly refurbished
- kettle/choice of tea and coffee in the room, always handy after a day of walking!
Cons:
- no one invested any money in our bathroom. It looked as if from a one star hotel. Perfectly useable but tiny bit disappointing, especially when you compare it to the room.
- very thin walls and you can hear what your neighbours are talking about, but it happends in many hotels.

All in all, a very decent three star hotel and I would certainly recommend it for a travellers' base or a romantic getaway.

We stayed at the hotel a couple of weeks ago as it was recommended by the company we were mountain biking with - & we were offered a great deal when we booked. Despite the weather we had a great time, the Staff were all friendly and nothing was too much trouble. The rooms were OK, but more important to me was the shower - powerful & hot, just what was needed that's for sure. The breakfast was nice & set us all up for the day. We had a meal on the Friday night, service was good & food delicious especially the homemade chips. The bar is in need of updating but that aside it has a good selection of beers & not expensive. We had a great weekend & would recommend this hotel as a base.

Had a lovely stay in the Glan Aber, the staff were friendly and helpful. I had a single room which was very comfortable and lovely and warm, I particulary liked the choice of complimentary biscuits in my room. I can recommend the food, Breakfast and Dinner was very good with a great selection on both menus, not to mention the bar prices which are very competative. Will certainly be back.

Room Tip: Hotel also has a bunkhouse
