“Fast Service”
Reviewed March 20, 2013

After eating in our hotel bar one night we wanted to venture out to one of the other hotel restaurants. We'd read online that the Stables Bistro did traditional Welsh food - well, I wouldn't describe it as that. It was your standard British pub selection. The food service was very quick and very tastey. The prices were very fair (we paid £20 for two main meals) and I was really happy with my choice (Chicken Thai Green Curry Hot!). I'd definitely recommend that you give this place a try.

“Good value”
Reviewed March 14, 2013

Out for the day on Mothering Sunday. Found a table and ordered food and drinks. £1.85 for a pot of tea. Food arrived quick and was very good. Nice and hot. Plenty of choice plus specials. Lots of outside seating for those with dogs. Car parking is free after 6pm. Didn't feel ripped off as you do in places like this. Not fine dinning but doesn't pretend to be. Very pleasant and helpful staff.

“Good Grub!”
Reviewed March 10, 2013

Good honest pub grub - great price, quick service. Staff were very friendly and accommodating. It can get a bit noisy and bit busy

“Really good pub food”
Reviewed March 10, 2013

Whilst Betwys Y Coed has a lot of places to eat, this is one of the few less formal places. We have eaten here several times, and have always found it to be good food.

We went again this week, on a busy Saturday night. We found a table and both ordered the chicken tikka masala curry with rice and chips. The meal was lovely - a creamy chicken curry with real chips and good rice. A bargain at around £9.

The stables is always popular with walkers and mountain bikers as it is a great place to just drop in for a drink and some really good food at very reasonable prices. Definitely recommended for an informal drink and some good food if you are in the area.

“£21 robbery”
Reviewed February 28, 2013

Started with no coffee, a hotel with no way of making coffee, should have walked out then!
Staff were polite and friendly but not overly bothered if we had a good meal or not.
I paid £21 for 2 burgers a pint of coke and a tea. (Yes tea, no coffee available at a 3 star hotel)
Burgers were rubbery, chips were just warm, salad was poor.
We both left more than half our burgers!
I can cook a little bit myself and feel if you can't provide a half decent burger and chips, what can you do!
My overall feeling was of being cheated, we had been for a nice walk, we were both really hungry and looking forward to a nice meal.
I can totally identify with all those people who gave an average, poor and terrible review.
Give yourselves a pat on the back, you are spot on.
Wish I had read the reviews first then I probably would have been writing a good review of a different place.
Full marks to trip advisor, dim marks for the Stables (dim means nothing in welsh)
