“Off the beaten path pub”
Reviewed April 12, 2012

This was recommended by a man on the street who said" this is the best food in town". I would call this upscale pub food. The atmosphere is shabby chic. This is a great place to go and enjoy a slow paced meal. I would recommend the Ty Gywn to anyone traveling through Betws-y-coed!

“Great Food, but Poor Service”
Reviewed April 11, 2012

We went there with our family (two well-behaved children) and the food was amazing. However, we had 4 waitstaff serving us, never received our appetizer of Mussels we ordered and when the check was brought we waited for about 15 minutes to pay, but eventually had to go seek one of our 4 waiters out who was unaware that we had been given a bill. He then went and got another one of the waiters (who didn't know we had been given a bill) and we were then able to pay. Like I said, the food was amazing, but when a family with younger kids come in, they aren't looking to have a 3 hour meal. Service was disappointing, but this probably wouldn't be a problem if you were there for a romantic or leisurely evening.

“Wonderful meal; charming ambiance”
Reviewed April 11, 2012

After our day of driving the northern coast of Wales and the Snowdonia region, we were so pleased to find the Ty Gwyn! We had stopped to ask a local where to eat, and he said that this is by far the best place to eat in Betws-y-Coed. The atmosphere was simply charming - very warm and welcoming. The menu was very diverse - a BIG step up form typical pub fare - more of a fine-dining menu. Our dinners were delightful - one of the best meals we had in our 10 days in the UK.

“Another happy returning customer!”
Reviewed April 10, 2012

If you are staying in or around Betws-y-coed then you must eat a meal here. We did the first time in Snowdonia and then kept on coming back to eat dinner here. The food is like fine dining at reasonable prices, the menu is extensive. The decor of the old coaching inn is old world and charming and it has great atmosphere. Service is a bit touch and go but the good food and changing menu is more than enough to keep coming back for.

“Super place”
Reviewed April 8, 2012

If you like 16th century coaching Inns thatnhave retained their original character, you'll love this place. Beams, wood fires, candle lit dining and the menu has a vast amount of choice. Everything very well cooked, presented, service excellent - you have the feeling of having gone back to a bygone age in the best sense.
