“Don't”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 15, 2011

We stopped for an evening meal here. We experienced slow service, incomplete orders and poor cooking. We had to return one main dish as inedible (it was overcooked so the meat was bone dry, and about one third was burnt).

We were given no apology, and the only response was to offer the menu to choose another dish. When asked how long this would take, since we had already waited 45 minutes, the response was a shrug and 'Don't know'.

We later made a complaint to the management, and have now been fobbed off with the excuse that all the staff involved have been retrained as a result of the complaint. Given the comprehensive failure of the kitchen, waiting and supervisory staff involved I find this difficult to credit as having been meaningful in the four day period between the complaint and response.

Whilst there we also overheard another customer complaining about the quality of the meat, so we aren't the only ones. If you want good food, just go further up the road to Betws-y-coed and call at one of the many other good restaurants instead.

“Lovely dinner”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 4, 2011

The restaurant is very nice, not too formal but tidy. We went on a Monday, there were not many people eating but a couple of the things we ordered were not available.
Our meal was lovely, we were not disappointed.

“Nice Place - Poor food.”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 16, 2010

Our friends were staying at this hotel so we ate here following them checking in. On entering the restaurant, we were pleased with the atmosphere, the helpful staff and the decor. However, the menus were uninspiring and looked like an over-priced pub menu; steak; roast; fish & chips etc... I chose the steak and my wife chose the roast lamb our friends had a burger and the roast lamb. I love a good steak but unfortunately this one was not great and there was no choice of sauce to accompany it except for ketchup. My wife found her meal to be rather bland.
I would not eat here again unless there was nowhere else nearby with space. I would recommend the Ty Gwyn around the corner but we did need to book in advance to get in there.

Food and service was excellent, from start to finish the staff were very attentive and accommodating. Food was delicious and really good value for money.
We will be returning to in the near future.
