“Great place to eat in Betws Y Coed”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 14, 2013

We were only able to eat here once during our stay. But we really enjoyed the night we had. We actually booked by email as the phone signal I had was a bit iffy and recieved a quick response confirming our booking.
Upon arriving the place had a nice atmosphere and a warm welcome. The menu was great and it was nice to see gluten free mentioned as a matter of course rather than an exception. The speed of service was spot on so you never felt rushed or abandoned!
The food was great and the portions generous, sadly I had no room for pudding!
Also it's nice to go somewhere that's not put a crazy mark up on its drinks - a very nice change!

Lovely vegetarian dinner - gorgeous soup to start, with homeade bread, lovely main course, good wine, friendly service. Rally nice place too - nice and quiet and good ambience and local pictures on the walls etc.

“A night to remember”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 11, 2013

Ate here 9th March 2013, the first table we were given (in front of the till)was a bit rickety but were moved upon request to a quiet romantic corner. The food was excellent, good service and an all round lovely atmosphere - well worth a visit.

“A real taste of Welsh cooking at its best”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 10, 2013

A real treat! We were taken out by our parents to this highly thought of bistro in Betws-y-Coed; we managed to get the last booking and people were being turned away as we arrived.

The menu is a little different and consists of twists on favourites, particularly Welsh ones. There are some ingenious uses of laverbread, Welsh whisky and bara brith and the resulting dishes are delicious. Small appetisers consisted of mini deep fried cheeses and what tasted like mini laverbread pakora. Starters were excellent: we had smoked salmon, Anglesey eggs and wild pigeon, all beautifully prepared and presented. The main courses were also top notch. This time we had pork with black pudding, hake with a soft-shell crab, duck with orange and bara brith, and salmon with laverbread and prawns. In each case, the accompaniments were well chosen and didn't overpower the main attraction. We only needed one portion of vegetables and a few chips to complete a memorable plateful. Despite the richness of these dishes, we found space for dessert: a lemon flummery, raspberry sorbet with cassis, chocolate scrummy with coconut sorbet and a plate of Welsh cheeses. All were delicious.

Four of us dined with aperitifs, wine and three courses each for just over £130. If you are in the area, this is well worth a visit, but you must book!
