We really enjoyed our stay at Garth cottage. Helen, the owner, provided some very useful information as well as a very welcome and generous hamper. We were touched by the fact that she made a real effort to include food suitable for the vegans in our party.
The location is superb, it's close to everything but in a relatively quiet location within the village. The cottage is comfortable and extremely well-equipped: I was particularly impressed with the full range of ordinance survey maps that were provided for guest use. We all had a great week and my daughters fell in love with Snowdonia on their first visit to North Wales.
We received such a warm welcome from Helen the owner on our arrival. The cottage is both warm and beautifully clean and well equipped. The hamper and flowers that greeted us on arrival were a real bonus. She even provides a decanter of whisky for a small tot after a long day walking. The bed was comfy and the shower powerful.
The village it is set in is beautiful and the restaurants and takeaways are innumerable. The cottage is only a short walk from all of these establishments. There is even a Spar with a bakery and a Londis store. There are many walks in the immediate vicinity both easy and more challenging and many more only a short drive away. You couldn't ask for more.
Just like to say a big thank you to Helen for the use of her beautiful cottage.
We would recommend this cottage to friends and wouldn't hesitate to visit again.
Garth cottage is a lovely comfortable base in the beautiful setting of Betws y Coed. The owner, Helen, has obviously taken great care to make this a warm and welcoming place to stay, and the garden is a delight, especially when the sun is shinning! Betws y coed has lots of lovely shops, cafes and restaurants and beautiful walks are accessible right from the front door. I would definitely recommend Garth cottage to anyone looking for a relaxing break in Snowdonia.
This cottage was an ideal base for exploring Snowdonia. Ideal for familes as it contains a double and twin room (which along with pet free - essential for me - proved surprisingly hard to find last minute). Our family could enjoy stunning low level walks by the falls in the day and short walk to cafes/restaurants in the evening but fully equipped for eating in.
We had a great stay at Garth Cottage and received a lovely warm welcome from Helen when we arrived. The cottage is well equipped, beautifully decorated and has a lovely garden to enjoy in the evenings.
Garth is in a great location if you enjoy walking in the mountains, we did lots of day trips for walking and none took more than about a 20 minute drive to get to the start.
There are some great walking books / route planning in the cottage if you're into the walking. we'd recommend the Nantlle ridge walk and Carneddau range if you'd like to avoid the crowds.
Our family of four (children age 10 & 12) enjoyed a lovely stay here in April. Helen welcomed us and was very friendly and helpful. The welcome basket of goodies was a real surprise and contained some great treats for both adults & kids. Although compact, the cottage was big enough for the 4 of us and had a handy rear porch for walking boots & wet coats. It had a good sized kitchen table for family meals. Garth cottage is extremely well equipped. The kitchen had everything you could possibly want and more (5 frying pans!) There were plenty of towels & a great shower with enough hot water for all. The cottage was very clean with a well kept garden too.
We had a minor leak with the shower and Helen responded immediately. She sorted the problem quickly and was keen to check things we're all ok for us.
Location - wise, Garth is well placed within the village and only a short walk from the shops & pubs. It's a great base for Snowdonia walks & more. Will definitely return. Thanks Helen!
Garths location, right in Betws-y-Coed is perfect and with off street parking too you can't really beat the location. Being 100m off the main road ensures peace and quiet even when the village is busy and you can be sitting in a cafe or restaurant after a 2 minute stroll across the picturesque Pont-y-Pair bridge.
The cottage is warm and cosy and has all the mod cons you could wish for as well as being well stocked with all the little things you may not have brought with you, or necessarily expect to find in a self catering cottage.
However, the best thing about Garth is the warm welcome from the owner. The cottage was handed over complete with a hamper of goodies and essentials to get us started as well as other small touches such as treats for our children and child specific bedding. Helen is also very knowledgeable on the area and full of helpful suggestions of things to do, whatever the weather.
I could not recommend Garth more heartedly and will definitely look to return.
