“Best food in the area”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 11, 2014 via mobile

We visited on spec on a rainy Saturday night thinking it might be quiet but we got one of the last 2 unreserved tables. The atmosphere is very friendly with welcoming staff. Food was great - definitely now the best place to eat in Beddgelert. Great choice, very fresh and good portions. Ignore the review that says it's only for the Welsh locals - that's rubbish - there were a couple of tables of locals because the food is good! We are English and were welcomed just the same. We will be back soon!!

“Very good food, excellent service, nice atmosphere”

We arrived around 830pm in Beddgelert on a Friday night and this was the only restaurant we could find still serving food. First night we ate off the lighter classic pub menu which was hearty, home cooked, tasty food. Second night we had a great 3 course meal from the main menu. Fantastic local Conwy mussels to start, followed by handmade Welsh faggots and excellent, original strawberry medley dessert . Great food all round and the service was excellent- owner was really welcoming and had a friendly team looking after everyone. Thanks! Will return.

“Fantastic!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 1, 2014

On a walking holiday from Somerset where we are used to superb food and good service. The Hebog beats the best, wonderful food, good service and so friendly. Really good to see so many local people eating there as well as visitors, all made to feel welcome. We would highly recommend the trio Brûlée as a sweet, wow!
Thank you to all at the Hebog for such creating such a fantastic place.

“A true dining gem that really made this trip!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 1, 2014

For us as a couple we regularly eat out, from a quick macdonalds to the savoy in London dining and drinking is a big part of our social life and what we enjoy spending our money on. On our recent trip to north wales we stayed in a great little village with all you need to enjoy all the outdoors has to offer. But with climbing and adventuring by day comes the real want to tuck into some great food by the evening! A treat after a snowdon climb for sure!
Truth be told we went to hebog due to the antique bistro being closed! We were told locally it was new but had been full constantly! We booked a table and were greeted with a homely and welcoming atmosphere!
To start we had the homemade soup and the baked cheeses - gorgeous! The soup was wonderful and the presentation of both brilliant ! Overall the presentation here is always top quality! For main the fillet of beef (which echoed the quality of top market guacchos in London!) and the welsh lamb with both these you are also offered two side dishes included in the price - we particularly recommend the roasted root veg which is delicious! For pudding the cheesecake is just what you need with local welsh ice cream and the "suprise" definitely took us back to our youths!
A nice baileys and welsh local whisky ended our meal perfectly! The owner (we presume) is top and always there to make you feel welcome and give you great advice on what to do in the area(especially things you might not find in your guides)!
We very rarely whilst away will visit the same place twice especially when Beddgelert really has so many choices of eaterys but due to such a great visit here we returned for a full welsh breakfast inc tea and toast and another dinner on our trip!
This truly is a gem of the bistro and we cannot wait to come back on our next visit! We wish them all the luck and if you are reading this from your cottage or hotel or at home planning your visit hurry up and bloody book your table it will be well worth it!!

Oh p.s the fish and chip shop attached is also great for lunch out on the patio area (if you manage to grab the sun)
