Our Third trip to Snowdonia in 4 years and each time we have stayed at Red Dragon. We have previously stayed in Aran Cottage twice with an additional family and the location and rooms were perfect. This summer, just the 2 of us headed to Snowdon but with the dog this time around and stayed in Tryfan.
We knew from previous trips that this was the perfect place for us and a great location at the foot of the Watkin Path. Obviously Tryfan is a much smaller property, and the kitchen is very small but when you are on holiday, who wants to cook!
Great cottages in a fantastic location for Snowdon as well as other attractions and a great run/walk route along the lake into Beddgelert if you have enough energy after the Watkin path.
I stayed here with 7 family members for a long weekend to celebrate my birthday. The cottage is very cosy but still has plenty of space for everyone. The kitchen is very well equipped, the beds are comfy and perfectly situated for walks from the cottage. We had a great weekend and hope to visit again one day.
This is the third time we have stayed in a red dragon cottage and as usual we had a great time. The cottages are always clean and tidy. The location is idea for Snowdon hiking and Bethgelert has nice pubs and shops with Porthmadog near for larger shops.
Set in the stunning Nant Gwynant valley, at the end of the Watkins path up Snowdon, this was an ideal place for a family stay. Our hosts were extremely helpful both in advance and during our stay, definitely going the extra mile. They were able to provide plenty of baby gear including stair gates, high chairs and cot.
Upstairs décor was perhaps work in progress (maybe new fire doors were recently fitted?) but everything was clean and comfortable. Kitchen well equipped.
The house could do with a bit of TLC but was comfy and clean and made an excellent base for the week. The owner had left some nice touches such as milk, bread, wine and flowers. (Think you'd struggle to comfortably accommodate more than 8 at the absolute maximum though!). The location is wonderful - peaceful and perfect for Snowden. It's nice walk into the nearby village of Beddgelert and not far to Caernarfon or the coast.
Aran Cottage is in such a beautiful location, with amazing views.I particularly enjoyed the rocking chair and stool in the main bedroom, and spent a lot of time sitting there looking out at the view of the river, the mountain, and the cows. It was so incredibly peaceful and relaxing.
The cottage is very well equipped, even down to cling film for your sandwiches, and it was like walking into a home rather than a holiday let. On arrival we were welcomed by a cosy, warm cottage, with milk in the fridge and flowers on the table, which was a lovely touch.
It's location is perfect. You can walk to Caffi Gwynant for an amazing breakfast; you are on a bus route; there are gentle walks around the lake, or take the Watkins Path to the summit of Snowdon.
We booked out the cottages for our Daughter's wedding. We had the larger one (Aran) with other family members occupying the other cottages. Aran was perfect for my daughter and her bridesmaids; all 6 of them! Offering sufficient space for hairdresser in one sitting room and make up in the lounge/kitchen. The kitchen was very well equipped with a huge fridge/freezer, more than enough crockery, cutlery etc. The cottages were ideally situated between the church in Beddgelert and the reception at Lyn Gwynant Barns. On the doorstep are some lovely walks, the start of the Watkin path a short stroll away and a lovely walk; make it as short as you like! Across the road a short walk around a lake. Parking was plentiful and the wifi welcome as the area has no mobile signal. I would recommend these cottages.
