We stayed here in a group of 27 as part of a Rambling Club holiday, Monday to Friday. The hotel is situated in a very beautiful area, on the edge of the village with spectacular views from the windows. It is possible to do lots of walks straight from the hotel, but we also used the local Sherpa bus service - cars not required! The staff were excellent and nothing was too much trouble for them. We had a dining room to ourselves for the evening meal with an excellent menu. One evening when we were back late they were quite happy to delay the meal by half an hour. We had a superior room that was absolutely enormous with a huge bay window that looked straight down the Aberglaslyn Pass. We would most certainly stay there again, either as a family group or a part of a larger group.

My wife and I have just returned from 3 nights at the Royal Goat. We were in a party of 23 from the Rotary Club of Willenhall. The hotel is well situated and is an ideal base for all travellers.on the edge of the village and a short distance to all local amenities.
Our room (33) was on the third floor. We were fortunate in having a corner room with two windows but one had to sit on the very wide window sill to see out. The room with a double and a single bed was well furnished but at least one comfortable chair would have helped, (we had rwo dining chairs and a stool). Although the bathroom was new there was problems with the plumbing both waste and supply and we changed rooms for the last night. The room was clean and although serviced each day the bed was 'tidied' rather than made.
Being a private party we had our own dining room which the staff were anxious for us to vacate after dinner as they wished to prepare it for breakfast. The food was reasonable but we had a limited menu probably due to the size of the party and being served at the same time. The breakfast choice was excellent and plentiful. All staff were friendly and helpful.
There was a wedding at the hotel on Saturday with many guests also staying overnight. This did cause some problems in that on returning on Saturday afternoon parking was severely restricted and some guests had to use the public Car Park incurring a cost of £4 for an overhight stay. The wedding guests, although having an allocated room for the reception and evening dance, spread themselves throughout every room - two lounges, bar, reception area and, as it was a pleasant evening all the tables and benches outside. Accepting that a number of guests were also resident it would have been fairer to have allocated at least one of the lounges for residents who were not attending the wedding.
Although it did not affect me It is unusual to find a hotel bar closing at 11pm.
We would recommend the the hotel for a stay but be warned that the facilities may be shared which may cause some problems.
Some reviews have suggested that the hotel is 'tired' but with all character hotels over a certain age you should accept this. Floorboards do creak and not all surfaces are level any even. If you want to stay in a characterless 'box' with identical rooms and 'processed' food stay away from the Royal Goat.

Some of the decor in the hotel is a bit bonkers. clearly there is a program of renewal going on here to spruce the place up a bit.

Great location and great meals.

Almost uniquely in North Wales - happy, friendly local staff - they even talk to the guests!

We stayed at the goat as it was the only place left with a room in Beddgelert on first impressions it looks clean and tidy , we had a twin room fairly basic but clean the beds are another story even after walking snowden did not sleep at all it was like sleeping on brick , not a good experience at all .

We spent two nights in July 2011, and found it welcoming and comfortable. The bathroom had been newly refitted and was very presentable. The room was cosily furnished and we slept particularly well - a combination of a comfy bed and the mountain air, I think! We had a room only deal so didn't try the breakfast. We ate in the bar/grill the first evening - it was ok, nothing special, just simple pub-type meals. But good enough for a convenient bite to eat. Beddgelert was a very pleasant place to wander on a summer evening. We may well visit again, and would consider rebooking at The Royal Goat.

We stayed one night and had a nice smallish room which appeared to have recently been done up, including the 'shower' bathroom. The bed was comfortable and we were not disturbed by noise. The cooked breakfast was good, as was the evening meal in the smart Grill room, the duck was very tasty. The residents bar was old and tired but there was a good selection of real ale. The staff were all helpful. Beddgelert is pretty, the location is great and there are a few nice bars/hotels for food and drink.

Myfanwy and I both enjoyed our stay , the harpist in the residents lounge was very good but should stay away from the piano. A quaint old fashioned creaky lift added to our enjoyment too. Breakfast was outstanding and service world class.
