Contacted stenaline about no children in the premium lounge appears they only had feedback saying that children should not be in the lounge, so contact stenaline and give them the opposite feedback, they tried to buy me off with a free cabin one way, but I wrote this review instead

Knowing Stena Line from Scandinavia one thinks about reliable services and quite modern ships. But while Stena's fleet is very up-to-date in their home market, the vessels used for the Irish Sea seem to be more like distant Scandinavian cousins, old maids sometimes.

This is especially true for Stena Europe that travels from Fishguard to Rosslare and vice versa. The 30+ old ship seems to be in good shape, but the interior looks in parts very dated. Especially the cabins are surprisingly shabby. There is an air of 80's soviet charme to them, but if you're not a historian, then you rather have a bit more comfort and joy to the eye. It must be said though that they're cheap. So it's OK.

The Stena Plus Lounge is the most modern part of the public parts of the ship. It's nicely decorated. A pity though that the Scandinavian items used for decoration in the display cabinets are not for sale. This leads us to the shop. Again, this is OK, but not more. The articles are the usual ones and everything is not really inventive.

The situation is better on the Dublin-Holyhead route, as a trip last year showed. On the Fishguard-Rosslare route also the Fastferry service has been abandoned, which seem to reflect the relatively unimportant role of that rute in Stena's network.

Yet a lot of things are quite good travelling on the Stena Europe: The service is reliable, staff are friendly, check-in and boarding are quick and easy.

Travelled over a very windy and turbulant weekend in March.

Due to the snow and winds, Stena had major disruption to their schedules and had to manage many cancellations and worried passengers. We were a gropu of 5 such passengers and were fortunate enough to contact Gethin in their call centre,. The level of effortt and help we received was outstanding and he should be commended.

The trip was ultimatly a great success in nosmall part due to Stenas great service overall and Gethin in particular.

The Adventure going out was superb and the slightly delayed HSS got us home safely - cheers!

We were forced to change from our normal choice of air to ferry due to short notice of arrangements.
Highly recommend the premium service. Good comfortable lounges with TV, computers and workspaces.
Complimentary TV, coffee, wine and newspapers.
Fast boarding and disembarkation with friendly staff.
I am now a convert! By the time you have added in car hire and the fiddle of airport security and cabs this comfortable experience makes visiting Ireland a pleasure at a competitive price.
Goodbye bucket airlines!

Took this crossing with Stena Line to save a long drive to Calais and back up in the UK. Getting a good nights sleep was a real bonus, and overall only a couple of hours longer than the road drive. Didn't really know what to expect from the "ferry", had expected it to be very basic and mainly for freight traffic. Very pleasantly surprised by the standard of the ship, it's facilities and the friendliness of the staff. Had a single external cabin and was expecting small bunk beds with a tiny porthole. Must have been some time since I travelled overnight by ferry, as the room was better than the last hotel I stayed in. 1 x very confortable double bed and above was a very easy to fold away additional single bed. Shower, toilet, wash hand basin all very clean and modern, and a huge outside window.
Will definetly look at this as an option when travelling with my family next time.
