We stayed one night on our way to the Dublin Ferry. As usual (we have stayed here many times) we were greeted with great hospitality and Welsh cakes. The room was immaculately clean and comfortable with a beautiful on-suite bathroom. There is secure off-road parking and great walks in the immediate area. After a super breakfast we were ready to face the ferry.
This small guest house (five bedrooms?) is the best we have ever stayed in.and we look forward to staying there again next year.

We stayed one night , arriving late and leaving early for the ferry to Dublin. The guest house is conveniently near the ferry terminal which suited us well Our hostess could not have been more helpful and kind. A very pleasant and comfortable room, Welsh cakes on our arrival and a super breakfast.

My partner and I have stayed at this B&B twice now, on the eve of our annual trip to holiday with family in Ireland and we love it. The owners are very welcoming without being overpowering, the rooms are opulent and very, very clean. We usually are unsure of arrival times, as we often drive from the midlands to Anglesey after work but this is never a problem and there is a warm welcome waiting when we arrive. This year, we arrived in time to go out for dinner and again the owners were very helpful, when I emailed to ask for recommendations.

The breakfast is great. Fresh fruit, cereals, really tasty English Breakfast and topped off with toast and homemade jam/marmalade and lots of hot tea/coffee.

I would recommend this place every time, very close to the port too and Rita leaves homemade Welsh Cakes in the room with your tea/coffee and they're lovely!

My family and I stayed here in October 2012 and again in February 2013 and received the warmest welcome from this lovely property's kind and thoughtful owner, Rita. Having travelled over 350 miles, it made such a difference to find not only tea and coffee making facilities, but also the tastiest Welsh cakes in our rooms. The house was warm and welcoming and our bedrooms and bathrooms beautifully laid out. Furniture and beds were comfortable, we had excellent sleeps and started our day with the most delicious, beautifully cooked breakfast. The whole house is immaculate and it really made us feel very happy that we had chosen Yr Hendre because Rita's attention to detail obviously comes naturally to her. She is totally professional whilst at the same time making you feel that you've just visited your favourite auntie.

This is a friendly and well set up Guest House. The host, Rita, has run the Guest House for years and her experience shines throughout.
We got a special deal for two nights which made it excellent value.
The location is well up the hill away from the port, so better suits those with a car, but instead of looking at grey buildings and a grey sea we looked over the large green park opposite.
Thoroughly recommended

An excellent place to stay before getting the Irish ferry the next day. A warm welcome from Rita, tea and welsh cakes, a lovely comfortable room and superb breakfast. It's an interesting house well-positioned for a walk on the green opposite and down to the old harbour and shore. Took the opportunity to book the night on our way back from Ireland, infinitely better than a night on draughty Holyhead station waiting for the morning train! Recommended wholeheartedly.

Room Tip: All 3 rooms are very good. Preview on website to see which you prefer. Great views out from Amanda...

Yr-Hendre was not the first place I had tried to book for our overnight stay in Holyhead and I am so glad my original choice was fully booked. Yr-Hendre is a beautiful old house full of quality and maintained beautifully and in character. Our room was really comfortable and, after a long drive, the tea tray (with a proper tea pot) with home made Welsh cakes was just so welcoming. The beds were really comfortable, the shower room well appointed even down to shoe polish and brushes! There was even needle and threads in the bedroom if needed. We had a beautiful freshly cooked breakfast - and it was the first place where a pot of hot water came with the tea. Even with all the above, Rita is what makes Yr-Hendre so special. She had a lovely warm welcome for us, was really helpful and it was a pleasure to meet her. If you are thinking of staying in Holyhead, give yourself a real treat and stay at Yr-Hendre.
