“Thanks for helping me out!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 27, 2013

Stayed here for a couple days whilst I looked for rented apartment in area. The owner really looked after me and gave me great tips about the town. The breakfast was yummy and big.
He even gave me discount for my troubles. Helped me unload and load all my bags and cases from the car.
Rooms were cozy and clean and above all, quite!
makes a great effort to make sure guests are happy.

This B&B is very well situated in Holyhead: in a quiet, parking-friendly street near everything you need and the ferry terminal.

But I would only book another night in this B&B if I had no alternatives.

We were wellcomed by a note on the door saying " call number xxx". On the phone we were told to look for the key under a flower pot. Once in, we found a very small an not so clean room. (if you drill a hole please clean up the dust). All equipment was not only "old" but also totally worn out.

I was particularly disappointed by the breakfast. These B&B survive only by the ferry passengers. But leaving on the 8h30 ferry we could not get any breakfast until 7h30. And do you call 1 (yes ONE) toast with preserve breakfast?

This place gives B&B's a reputation.

Check in time is from 3 pm like most establishments. I have no objection for guests checking in earlier with prior notice. We will either cater for their arrival or leave key out for them. It is only posssible to have some free time for shopping etc between 1 pm and 3 pm.
Conditions on check in time ( 3 pm)were made known to the Guests when they completed the online booking. They arrived before 2 pm whilst my deputy was having lunch at her home.
I was away for the weekend

The bathroom has recently been renewed. On close examination,a few particles of drill dust were found at the back of a skirting board in the far bottom corner of bathroom.which is hidden from view. The Guests must have examined every nook and cranny for any dust!

As for early breakfast,we cater for the Ferry which leave just before 9 am.We offer a lighter breakfast such as eggs of own choice, bacon sandwich and unlimited toast! When you walk in the dining area there is a big choice of cereals on offer,a fridge with juice and yogurts and fresh fruit..There is little demand for a large cooked breakfast at an early time. This is the first ever complaint I have received of being mean for breakfast!
As we are often up until after 1 am awating later Ferry arrivals,we need some sleep hence breakfast before 7-0 am is self select.

I'm afraid the only good things I can say about this B&B are that the owner was pleasant, the shower was hot, the sheets were clean and it was handy to the ferry. Wifi is available but unreliable.

The level of cleanliness in the rooms was poor. Even though the room we had was the family room, it was very small, and the toilet was tiny. The wall mounted TV was at a 90 degree angle to the bed and could not be moved. Everything that had been done to the room looked as if it had been done 'on the cheap'. We had no issue with the facilities being basic, however, the tea & coffee facilities left in the room were grimy, the bed cover was stained and the toilet hand basin was dirty.

As we were traveling with friends who had a separate room, I asked them how they found it; they had a used spoon in their cup and had the same issue with grimy plastic containers used for the tea bags, coffee and tea. They also had a cup in their bathroom which had obviously been used by the previous tenants for cleaning their teeth and had not been washed. Their TV volume was not working properly.

There was also a lot of dust under the toilet sink and grime under the taps.  And NO, I did not go looking for these things. When using the toilet, that was all at eye level.

I thought breakfast was OK, until we left and my husband told me he had found a hair in his scrambled eggs. As I said, we had the family room which is usually £75. Carl, the owner adjusted the tariff and we paid the double room price of £65 which was appreciated. I still feel the tariff is too high for what is offered.

A basic level of cleanliness should be expected regardless of star rating.

I do try hard to please everyone including price discounts. Online booking agents take nearly 20% commision hence cannot really negotiate a cheaper deal.
I have inspected the containers and are all clean. The inside had tea dust, nothing else.
TVs are working properly and WiFi has a good signal to all rooms.
Really upset and disappointed to receive such a low review as we seemed to have good conversations.

I stayed at Wavecrest last night and I was delighted with the service. The owner accommodated my 12 pm arrival when check in was typically not until 3 (I believe). I stayed in the room at the top of the house and found it to be very warm and homey. Lots of space for a big family! More than I needed for just myself, but was lovely to have the extra space.
The owner was understanding of my requests, and accommodated me when I was not feeling well. Truly kind.
I was looking for a place to get away for a night and Wavecrest was perfect for that.
Photos are also very accurate and the location was easy to find, and easy walk to the port.

Room Tip: Lots of stairs to the top room, I'd imagine not for everyone...maybe ask when you book if you wi...

My wife and I visited the opera at local Arts Centre. Selected Wavecrest. Not disappointed. Room was warm and comfortable. Space in the bedroom and en suite a little tight but everything there for you even down to the biscuits and sweet dish. Very quiet and just up the road from the pebble beach. Food excellent, staff excellent and very welcoming. DON'T USE BOOKING.COM. They are rip offs. Always try the hotel/B&B first and negotiate a discount. Well done Wavecrest. If we come by we'll ask for your accomm. again.

Having 3 children can be a bit of a nightmare in finding accommodation which has rooms for a large families. Found this online and was not disappointed.Room had 2 sections and therefore had some privacy. Although toilet was small I can see the owners reason for not altering the layout . Nice view from the window.
Had a nice breakfast before our Ferry to Dublin, Very convenient for all and parking outside the house. South Stack area was worth a visit and less than 10 minute drive.
Graces Italian Bistro was handy and easy walk.

Room Tip: The room mentioned is up 2 flights of stairs and not suitable for people with walking difficulties.T...

We stayed here for only 1 night because we had to take the ferry to Dublin. The B&B is very good located. The value is also very good, the breakfast and beds are very comfortable. It is not a 5 star B&B but we enjoyed it and for sure can recommend it!
