Charm, character and value for money. Stayed in many different types of Hotel and this is worth more than a 2-star. Staff were friendly and helpful - going out of their way. Room and en-suite was clean and well kept. Though the room was on the front overlooking the main road, during the night there was very little noise. The Church clock, chiming the hour, added to the character of the place, and we only heard it while we were awake anyway! Breakfast was very good, plenty of choice & full English (sorry, Welsh) was freshly cooked and HOT! Server was helpful and asked if we wanted more. Resturant wasn't open - not in season yet but there was plenty of choice in the town. Certainly to be recommended.

stayed on night, Sat off peak for £55 for two. The Royal is a lovely central hotel, right on the Dee, it was lovely to sit on the decking and watch the river. The room was on the small side but was clean and cheerful with a small flatscreen tv. The veiw was over the high Street, and could see the river. Bathroom was lovely and clean, with a heated towel rail. Hairdryer, kettle provided. Couldn't hear other people, but some of the floorboards were creeky which is to be expected in an old building.

Breakfast was lovely, and freashly cooked. There didn't seem to be lots of staff around and they do ask that you leave your key which is a bit of a pain as you have to walk thru to the bar to find someone, but that was the only main gripe.

Hotel bar is nice, not too expensive

Be careful parking outside, we checked in and moved the car to the small hotel car park but i can imagine it filling up in the summer months. DON'T LEAVE YOUR CAR IN THE STREET, THERE ARE LOTS TICKET HAPPY PARKING ATTENDANTS!

The hotel overlooks the River Dee & the view is beautiful. The guy on reception also serves in the bar so not many staff members around to help if needed.
The room we were given was large & on the front of the hotel which meant NOISE! Even though it was relatively quiet in the village we heard everybody coming home and had the worst night's sleep ever!
Breakfast was ok & staff were friendly.

Staff were polite and helpful. My room was spacious and very clean. Wish I'd have found the restaurant in the evening because the standard of service was fantastic for breakfast! The restaurant overlooks the river and the staff were professional! The barman, chap who showed us our rooms ,seemed to be running around doing everything else but was very polite and always had a smile on his face. I had to quelll the urge to call him Manuel.........give the man a payrise!!!!!

We had three comfortable days at very reasonable rates. We had a great view from our spacious room and received excellent service. This is the second time we have stayed at this hotel this year, which must say something. We like the town and the walking in the area.
