Stayed in early September . The Hand Hotel is well located close to the centre but in a nice quiet area. The first surprise was the room which had a very pleasant outlook and offered the sight and sound of the gushing River Dee. The bathroom was fairly old and basic but met our needs fine.

The bedroom was reasonably decorated in a relaxing light blue and although this was a twin we didn't feel as if we had been given an inferior room which is often the case. There were a few flights of stairs to negotiate to third floor.Temperature wasn't an issue as we could open the window for ventilation and the heating although elderly worked fine.

The hotel has entertainment and on Saturday this can be quite lively. We were greeted by the sight of an elderly gentleman sitting in reception with his fingers in his ears! The music although loud wasn't intrusive for us, The following day was much more mellow Jazz.

I'm not usually a fan of buffet breakfasts but this was well stocked and the bacon and sausages were a cut above the standard. Very nice fruity Welsh yoghurts too. The service was friendly if a little naive at times. Didn't dine in the evening but there as some good options in town especially adjacent to the river. Overall this hotel exceeded expectations and offred good value for money.

Wonderful walks in the area - you can catch a number 5 bus to a stop near the the Pontcysyllte Viaduct and wlak over the spectacular structure back to Llangollen (about 5 miles in all) . Highly recommended.

Me and my husband had a lovely afternoon sitting in the picturesque beer garden of the hand hotel over looking the river Dee. A beautiful sunny day a lovely chilled glass of rose and wonderful views. Didn't spend much time inside so cannot comment(looked nice tho) but would definatley recommend a drink in the gardens!

A June Friday evening saw us ariving at the Hand Hotel for a long weekend.Car Parking was easy as each patron was given a ticket to display in the adjacent spaces next to the Hotel.Staff were extremely helpful and welcoming. We walked the Maze of stairways until we found our room. All rooms were basic, ensuite with colour Tv.The rooms here are very comfortable(we had stayed before)with tasteful decor and fittings. The Hotel bar was also comfortable,as were the locals.
Breakfasts were exceptional ,served by efficient staff. The Hotel is tucked away overlooking the river, and was very quiet considering the thousands of tourists which drop in each day.
If one didnt have Dinner at the hotel, there were many other vendors to choose from, and at very good prices.
At the end of the weekend we paid a very decent bill and checked out.Until the next time.

Had a single room which was pretty standard - the shower room in particular was a bit dated and could have done with a new shower curtain and mat as both had a lovely tinge of orange mould.... Other than that I thought the room was good value and the hotel had a great position with a nice beer garden over looking the river and a central position in Llangollen. The bar was certainly lively the night we stayed!

This was our 4th time here, I think that says it all. Usual friendly staff
with a nice room overlooking the the river and superb food. What more can you say. If in or around Llangollen this is the only place to stay.
