A restaurant with rooms or a hotel with food; either way it's excellent in both catagories. A great welcome from Christopher, who gives guests a (returnable) long stay free permit for the carpark 20m away and which can be used in any long stay carpark in Denbeighshire is a real bonus; otherwise parking could be a problem. Our room, Oriel 5, is beautifully decorated and furnished and probably typical of all the rooms. It gives a great view of the Castle. It's a warm room with a good selection of teas and coffee and even more than enough milk cartons (often you get 4 cartons for the day in other hotels). The bathroom is equally well appointed, though the overhead drench shower could be a little inconvenient if you don't want to get your hair wet. toiletries (shower and hair gel are made locally in Ruthin and don't contain all the junk you'll find in the well-known rip-off brands. The bed is superbly comfortable. Breakfast and evening meals are taken in the restaurant which again is beautifully decorated. Breakfast is a real pleasure; served efficiently at the table and with a good selection of hot food, cereals, juices. Eggs are cooked to perfection. The bar is well stocked for this size of reastaurant with some good bottled local beers as well as a comprehensive wine list. We had an evening meal in the bar which was very good.
Obviously a great deal of taste and thought has gone into the concept of the Manorhaus and it pays off. Otherwise in Llangollen, from experience, other hotels don't come up to this level.
