Just returned from a 3 night break at this hotel and we enjoyed every minute of it. Beautiful setting, good food and the staff went out of their way to make our stay so pleasant. This is our third time at the Chainbridge hotel and we would definitely like to go back. Just one small gripe, the balconies just needed a little cleaning and tidying up then it would be perfect.

Thank you for your lovely review - it's clear that The Chainbridge is a place you love to come, and we're delighted that you enjoyed your most recent stay with us. All of the staff work very hard to serve our guests, so getting positive feedback is very welcome and appreciated.

This time of year, with our location on the river, means that the balconies can need more cleaning than usual, so we've increased the regularity of cleaning, thank you for the feedback.

We look forward to welcoming you back again at some point in the future.

Kind regards
Seamus

A lovely spot with spectacular views of the river. Rooms comfortable and food good. Convenient for Llangollen either as pleasant walk or very quick drive and a lot to see in the area. Extremely pleasant and helpful staff. The actual Chain bridge is a work in progress so looking forward to retuning in a couple of years to see it restored to its former glory. Thanjks for a great stay

Room Tip: Make sure you ask for a room with a view of the river

We didn't actually stay in the hotel, but instead had lunch there. The food was very good and the service could not have been better. We ate in the lounge - very comfortable with great views, overlooking gentle rapids on the River Dee - and went to look at the pleasant restaurant, where all the tables have excellent views of the river.

The atmosphere of the hotel is very peaceful and relaxed

It is in such a beautiful position that we asked to see a room overlooking the river, with a view to staying some other time. The room was pleasant, though nothing special - but its balcony was wonderful - very large, right over the rapids. Unfortunately we were already staying somewhere else, for I would happily have checked in then and there!

The staff could not have been more friendly and helpful.

Room Tip: Ask for one overlooking the river

Thank you for posting your review, of your brief but happy spell at The Chainbridge! We have an increasing number of non-resident guests who come to the hotel to enjoy the fine views and food, so we're pleased to hear that you enjoyed your lunch.

The riverside rooms of the hotel do have wonderful balconies that overlook the River Dee, and the view, and sound, of the river is hard to beat.

We hope that next time you're visiting the area, you'll choose to stay at The Chainbridge.

Kind regards

I have just returned from a one night stay at this hotel and was very impressed with both the facilities and the service. We arrived around 8pm but a quick phone call on route established the restaurant would still be open. The food was reasonably priced and delicious! We had a fantastic view of the river dee from our table. The bar seating areas are cosy and comfortable with lovely artwork on the walls. Our room was on the 1st floor overlooking the river and recently refurbished judging by other comments. The bed was rather small for a double but both the bedroom and bathroom were clean and nicely furnished. We were leaving very early in the morning so unfortunately missed breakfast but were able to settle our bill in the evening and were given clear instructions on how to leave the building as no staff were on duty at that time. Next time I'm in the area I will definitely be booking this hotel again.

Room Tip: the river is quite noisy so if you're used to silence when you sleep it would be advisable to ha...

This is a lovely hotel,it is under going some referbishments but what has been done is very nice, our room was overlooking the river dee,a standard room i would say nothing special and cleaning could have been a little more attention to detail, the staff were friendly and helpfull, the bar and the area overlooking the river is gorgeous,we had an evening meal also a breakfast and both meals were excellent, good quality food and service,i think the owners of this hotel will make it a very special place for people to stay,if we give constucted criticism rather than moans and groans i am sure they will do their best to correct the minor issues,i wish them well with the proect.

Thank you for your review after your recent stay at The Chainbridge. It's very pleasing to hear that the improvements and refurbishment that has taken place meets your approval, and that the service of the staff and all of the food you enjoyed added to your stay. As you say, there are still elements of the hotel we are working to improve, and we hope that in doing so The Chainbridge will become an even more pleasant place to stay.

I've long fancied visiting this hotel, having seen it from the railway a few times over the years, although a few years ago it was looking rather faded. We spent a pleasant night here in May, and it was good to see that it definitely appears to be on the way up, not down. Some refurbishment work is underway (although I hasten to add it didn't feel as if we were staying in a building site) and I understand the bridge itself is to be restored from its current sad-looking state during the next year.
The public areas were clean and generally bright, although some parts looked a little tired by comparison with the newly refurnished bar area (perhaps to be expected). Our room had a balcony with an excellent view overlooking the river, and this is definitely one the hotel's strong points - especially if you like to be able to watch steam trains passing as well! I'd describe the room itself as satisfactory rather than great - could definitely have done with more space to move about, and sit, although in good weather the balcony would be a good sitting area. The bed was comfortable enough but not particularly large for a double and lacked a headboard. Bathroom was clean and OK overall, but again felt a bit tired with, for example, discoloured sealant in places. It may be that this room (don't recall the number, but it was at the far end on the 2nd floor) is awaiting refurbishment, but if not it could do with some attention to the details.
Arriving mid-afternoon on a Sunday, it was a little disappointing to find that, although the web site mentions "a bar which is open all day for drinks, bar meals and cream tea" we couldn't get any cake or similar to accompany our cup of tea, as the kitchen was apparently closed till 6pm. That said, the member of staff at the bar was helpful and courteous, and in all other respects we were very happy with the service. As mentioned by others, Catrin was particularly pleasant and helpful, both on the phone and at the desk, and we were grateful to the lady cleaning our room who spotted an item we'd left behind and quickly brought it down to reception before we'd left the building.
We ate dinner and breakfast at the hotel, and were well satisfied with both the food and the service. The view of the river from the restaurant is excellent, and will be better still when the bridge is restored.
Although it's some distance from the town, the hotel is well placed for not-too-taxing walks alongside the canal, into Llangollen or to the Horseshoe Falls and beyond.
Overall, we enjoyed our stay, and notwithstanding the minor niggles, would hope to come back in the future.

Room Tip: Our room (can't remember the number) was at the far end (i.e. on the left when facing the hotel...

Thank you for taking the time to post such an extensive, thorough and helpful review of your time at The Chainbridge Hotel.

I'm very glad that you enjoyed your time at the hotel. The comments you make regarding the aesthetic improvements we have made to the hotel make for pleasant reading, and everybody that visits is in agreement regarding the quality and beauty of our unique location.

There are still elements of the hotel that can be, and will be improved, and we're all working hard to ensure this is done as quickly as possible. We believe that significant improvemnt has been made, and we prioritised work to ensure that the most urgent, and substantial, projects, were completed first.

We look forward to welcoming you back in the future, when we hope further improvement will be made, the bridge may be open and the view, and the opportunity to admire the steam trains, will be unchanged!

Kind regards
Seamus
