It took some finding (it is just a small distance out of Llangollen), but we were absolutely delighted with our stay here. Very reasonably priced and unbeatable location. Dinner, bed and breakfast deal was just fantastic value. Meals were superb and menu varied each night. The grounds are beautiful - hotel is in a picturesuqe rural setting alongside Llangollen canal in the beautiful Dee River valley, so absolutely no noise. Plenty to see in the area. Beautiful views of garden and valley from the dining room and also from our room. Room was clean, spacious and well appointed - no complaints at all. Hotel oozes old-world charm. We couldn't have asked for a better place.

I have just returned from a 1 night stay with my elderly mother. The staff could not have been more kind or helpful to us. The setting is idyllic with views over the surrounding hills , valleys and Llangollen canal. The beds were bliss! We decided to eat in Llangollen this was a mistake. It was difficult to find a parking space and when we did the meal was disappointing. We spoke to other guests who had eaten at the hotel and they gave excellent reports. Breakfast was in a large room with inspiing views. We can't wait to return - and will eat in house next time!

I searched the internet for a quiet 3 or 4 star hotel in north Wales and couldn't have chosen better. I booked a room for one but was shown to a spacious double room on the 2nd floor of the old building, with a stunning view across the valley. Dinner was excellent, the staff were first class and the whole hotel was clean.

A lovely, warm welcome and excellent staff! Nothing was too much trouble. The room was very small, but functional. Clean, fresh and comfortable - very comfy bed! Very warm room, lovely views! A little way out of the town, but the building is amazing! So many original features! We will definitely stay there again should be be in that neck of the woods! Certainly couldn't fault the customer service or the attention to customer comfort and enjoyment.

My Wife and I were greeted by friendly reception staff who were most helpful. Our room in the newish extension overlooked the canal towpath with views up the valley towards Llangollen. The bedroom was a reasonable size and was clean and tidy although the bathroom tileing could do with a little TLC.
We dined in the resturant were the service and food was good and the views across the gardens and up the valley through the large windows made mealtimes very enjoyable.
The hotel is well located with easy access to many local places of interest including a number of National Trust properties. All in all a very pleasant weekend.

I stayed at the hotel recently as a part of a large family group and had a great chance to have a little look at the hotel in its entirity.
I must firstly say that the hotel has a lovely location with views over the hills surrounding Llangollen and on the edge of a canal path, that said the building itself is a bit of a mish mash of extensions. We were lucky enough to stay in the origonal building which had some lovely traditional features (rooms 9 and 14 were nice), however other family members stayed in some rooms in 'newer' extensions but were very dated and in need of some repair (hign teens and early twenties).
Food on the whole was ok without being amazing but bar prices were a little steep.

I also attended a wedding there last summer and have to say that the event went very well, so for those that have an event there booked its a good venue. We stayed at the Wild Phesant that time which was nice - try for a newer room though!

Not a bad hotel just with a little more effort could be excellent.
