The Bryn Howel hotel needs some TLC - there's no two ways about it. I appreciate it's recently changed hands and the recent snow has clearly had a devestating effect on the old building, and whilst we bagged a room which was a bargain at £70 for bed and breakfast it's hard to avoid the state of the place.
Don't get me wrong the staff are superb, when they're around - I had to go look for someone to check in and the bar was only frequented by employees infrequently so we had to have to wait for food and drinks ordering. The food in the bar was very good, very prompt and worth the wait as was the breakfast.
Nevertheless it still just feels like a tired old Best Western that's changed hands and left the chain. Room was OK except for a funny smell which went having left the window open and the view was just spectacular over the hiils around Llangollen.
This hotel has potential by the spade full but unless something is done quickly to turn things around I'm afraid it will be a struggle. I will very probably return nonetheless becasue if they get things right this will be far and away the best hotel in the region.More
