“Lovely country hotel”
Reviewed March 18, 2013

We found the staff and hotel to be super friendly and helpful. Since we visit wales frequently we will definitely stay here again.
The hotel premises are a bit dated but in a nice kind of way so if you are looking for modern this will not be a good choice. For a nice country weekend near the canal for some nice walks and a real country atmosphere this is ideal. I would highly recommend the dinner here also we had a truly enjoyable three course meal. Thanks for a wonderful stay.

Firstly, I see in revies that 'Brian dosn't like dogs in hotel rooms' and suggests kennels! Brian, dont got to dog friendly hotels!!! Second visit to this lovely hotel, excellent DOG walking base, Millie and Ronnis had a fab time, Special thanks to Diane who booked us in without anyhassle even though it had not been noted that we had DOGS and so had to arrange another room to be sorted PDQ.and provided coffee while we waited. She was also on service in the resteurant for our first 2 evening meals, the staff those 2 nights were friendly and extremely efficient, The 3rd night was a different story, (see dislikes) The breakfast service was also excellent. Walks along the canal are fantastic, mkuch enjoyed by the pups! will definatly be returning!!

Third nights dinner service was headed by the suited Lorraine, to be polite was a shambles! The food as ever was excelllent, but the poor young male waiter was to say the least hassled the staff were constanly being redirected from service to reset vacated tables for breakfast. the previous nights we had been in and out within a hour, this nigh an hour in, we had only just recieved our main, which Lorraine had though we'd already had and removed our 'dirties' including my cutlery! no sign of veg when Lorraine came over to tell me she'd had a complaint that the dogs were barking, 'and its not the first time' . Obvioulsly not! when I got to the room they were so stressed (they are rescue dogs) I went back to say I wouldnt be able to stay for my meal, she couldnt see why (?) er, lack of veg, upset dogs?? I ended up finishing my meal on a tray in my room! Spoiled what would otherwise have been a perfect stay, Note to Lorraine, if a dog is reported barking, tell the owner staight away!!!

Room Tip: Make sure they are aware if you have dogs, some rooms are not used by pet owners. Brian take note!

Arrived late at night after a nightmare journey, was greeted personally by the manager who looked after me as if I was his brother. The kitchen prepared a small snack for me and I was honestly made to feel like royalty. The breakfast service in the morning was impeccable...one of the finest breakfasts i've ever had, and no rushing me away from the table either ( I am a late diner at breakfast)...highly recommended establishment in a beautiful location....

If your expecting pleasant well mannered staff then dont stay here. Blonde female manager was very abrupt and unhelpful. A story was made up by people at the hotel about smoking in the room even though none of us are smokers. This was purely because they wanted to free up the rooms for a wedding event. Was told by there cleaners that room 26 had urine all over the mattress and they have a giggle at the people who are unfortunate enough to reside there. Its a shame that the manager thinks lying is acceptable. The reputation of this establishment will come crashing down like a lead balloon. I will advise everyone i know never to stay here.

We recently returned from a five day break at Bryn Howel Hotel near Llangollen. Since our last visit in August 2011 the hotel has exchanged hands, and what a difference. Most of the rooms have had a complete refurbishment. Our room was quite large with all the usual facilities, the only disappointment was the small tv which worked when it felt like it. The food was excellent, in fact some of the best we have ever had. The public rooms were furnished with good quality furniture and offered free wi fi. All the staff were friendly and helpful (especially Patrick) and could not do enough for us. We are planning a return trip when the weather improves. The hotel sits on the bank of th Llangollen canal and offers lovely walks long the towpath. It also has a large garden great for walking off the substantial evening meal.

Thank you Mrs Hopkins
Bryn Howel Hotel has the most fabulous staff who are always willing to go that extra mile, always smiling, We feel very lucky indeed to have such an experienced team.
Mr Canavan and his management team are working around the clock to improve Bryn Howel Hotel and what a difference it is making to the hotel, everyone has given such complementary reports on how lovely the gardens are looking and the new Garden at the front of reception is really wonderful with the water fountain, even more so at night with the lights all lit up, The team of Chefs are really making a difference, the feedback for the Cedar Tree Restaurant is outstanding and consistent, Our new Lounge Bar Menu has had a fabulous response from everyone, The feedback from customers really helps us improve both the standards and the product we provide thank you very much Mrs Hopkins, From all the team here, Hope to see you very soon.

My husband and I stayed at this hotel (on the 3 nights inc flowers and chocolate deal) and it was fantastic.
Having stayed here for a weekend a few years ago it was exactly as we remembered.
The hotel is a wonderful historic building set in the most wonderful scenery and made all the more brilliant by the wonderful service by all staff.
Yes, I will admit the rooms are a little dated in decor but they are perfectly clean with tea and coffee facilities and a perfectly clean bathroom.
I would recommend this hotel to everyone and will definitely be staying here again.
Thank you to all staff here you made our weekend perfect with your exceptional service.
