Stayed at Birches VIP Lodge number 5 for the second time in 3 months. Group of 8 work colleagues/friends for a mini break as we all have quite stressful jobs. Both times we have thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The lodge and surroundings are first class. The staff are always on hand in case of problems! Hot tub is amazing and fits in all 8 of us comfortably. The second time we knew what we were expecting but it didn't fail to amaze us of how wonderful the lodges are. Cant wait for payday to book another break for November!!!

Just returned from 2 nights at number 5, Birches VIP. We booked mon-fri and arrived over the 3 days in groups for a hen midweekend!
The lodge is beautiful, clean and well stocked.
We fit 8 ladies in the hot tub no problem, we didnt have proper seats but were all comfortable enough and it was fabulous, checked early every morning with presumably a chlorine kit.

We had 2 friends join us on our main day and were told off as you can only have 8 people in the lodge. I know it sleeps 8 but surely it doesnt make that much difference? We are all professional adults with average age 30 and hadnt caused any problems the 2 nights and 3days previously, just thought that was a bit off.

Dipped my hand in the pool and it felt warmish but didnt feel the need to leave the 39` hot tub!

Had a lovely walk along the aquaduct and approx 4 miles back to Llangollen along the towpath, also went horse riding at springhill farm which was difficult to get to (use a map as satnav takes you miles away) but such beautiful views and happy horses.

The cornmill pub in Llangollen is lovely for a drink and the food looked good too. Overlooks the Dee and the wheel is still turning.

PS! My tomtom tried to take me down the wrong lane off the main road, the entrance is actually just past the Abbey Grange pub on your right if driving from Llangollen.

Room Tip: Birches VIP is fab

2nd time to Penvale Lodges , last time we stayed in the Saltspring VIP , and because of a larger party we have just returned from staying in the Birches VIP.
Great lodge, again as of last time disapointed that the Hot Tub only sits 4 comfortably.
This is a problem as you need to to take it in turns to enjoy it properly. For the price of larger hot tubs , I think Penvale need to invest in bigger ones , Especially the 4 bedroomed homes.
Staff were really helpful, scenery was amazing yet again and the lodge 5*.
The Britannia Inn up the road was cosy and welcoming and the food Superb!
Won't hesitate to return again next year, If my bank balance allows it!

Room Tip: Biches Lodge VIP, Lodge 6 was lovely but beware very steep to park car in drive. Lodge 7 is a better...

Just spent the weekend in the Birches Lodge VIP and had a great time.

Only one issue however...

The lodge sleeps 8, seats 8 in the lounge, seats 8 at the dining table, caters for 8 in terms of plates, cutlery etc... Hot tub fits 4 comfortably, 5-6 at a push - a large disappointment that had we known about we would have not booked this lodge. There are larger hot tubs that can be purchased, and for a lodge of that size I expected more than the small budget sized tub.

Other than that, the lodge itself and it's surrounding grounds were great.

I have stayed here 3 times now with friends, we go usually for 4 days when its someones birthday. We always ask for the Birch Lodge. These Canadian inspired lodges are secluded and are fantastic, clean and well equiped, everything you need in the kitchen including a dishwasher, ours had a separate utility room with washer, dryer and although there was no iron and ironing board we contacted reception and they brought us them the same day. When we first visited the hot tub was luke warm but the staff soon sorted it and the tub was attended too each morning. There`s an outside swimming pool covered in a glass house but it was too cold for me but my friends had a dip every morning. I think there`s a gym. Theres spaces near the lodge for parking your car and lovely decking surrounding the lodge and sometimes the ducks and squirrels visit for some treats.

Theres lots of space in the lodge with lovely bedrooms and bathrooms some en suite. Lovely log burner and central heating. Supermarkets near the town we always stop on the way there. Lovely small village with shops, and pubs, and walks along the canal. It`s a small village and I`d say more for those who want a peaceful holiday not for those who want to go clubbing etc. But the local area offers plenty of water activities such as rafting, canoeing and fishing etc

Overall staff are friendly and really helpful, accomodation is excellent we stay in these kind of lodges all over the UK and this is one of the best. We have always had a great time and don`t have any negatives.

Room Tip: Lodges are spaced out, but there are some that are more private Valley View Cottage is separate from...

I have just returned from the Penvale Lake Lodges and stayed in the Valley View Cottage VIP along with my partner and 3 other couples. The cottage itself was situated up a steep hill but that didn't put us off, we had taken our cars so that covered the steep part easily! We didn't have the best of weather so ended up staying in the cottage a lot of the days which was fine as the cottage was furnished to a high standard and was spacious so that we weren't encroaching on each others space! We did take a few walks which were very scenic and we have some fantastic pictures. The only thing for me that let it down was that we were asked to put our bin bags into the bins provided which we did however these weren't emptied at all during our stay and we ended up with a large fly infestation. In total when we left we had 17 bin bags outside and the smell was beginning to get a bit much too.

Room Tip: Hot tub was fantastic

We have had a fantastic weekend at the Penvale Lodges. We stayed in the Birches VIP lodge with family and friends. The lodge we stayed in was bigger than I imagined and was very clean. The location and surroundings were fantastic also.
The only very small negative for me would be that sound does travel inside. Our extended party hired 2 lodges and because our lodge was the one where the infants were staying we had all of our party there of an evening. As you can imagine 15 adults drinking alcohol it was hardly going to be quiet. Getting the kids to bed was quite hard work but once they were sleeping they were fine. Just take baby monitors with you and shut the bedroom doors.
All in all fantastic place, staff and scenery.
