Enchanting house, excellent en suite room and large rooms and firm beds. Warm welcome and excellent coffee to greet us and theres a viranda to view the lovely position overlooking canal and vale, close enough to the town but far enough not to hear it. Actually you wouldn't know there was a canal as its cut higher up the hill from the town centre, quite a sight and worth a view as is a coffee or ice cream on the town bridge after heavy rain!
Back to the B&B, there is tasteful and relevant items of furniture to enhanced the traditional style of the property but its certainly not stuffy. The owners I found available and friendly.

We stayed here back in October 2011 and stayed for 1 night as we were travelling to somewhere else in Wales and wanted to split the journey up. We were glad we only stayed 1 night.

Despite being advertised as being pet friendly, the general atmosphere felt quite unwelcoming towards our dogs in comparison to other pet friendly places we have stayed. Dogs were not permitted in the dining area, and had to be locked in a cage overnight. We were also advised to keep our dogs away from their cat (politely, however we feel we should have been better advised about the presence of a cat when booking in with our dogs).

The room was clean, comfortable and spacious. However the bathroom, although clean, was desperately in need of a new shower, as water just dribbled out and you couldn't really shower yourself and it looked as though it had seen better days.

The conservatory where we had breakfast was nice, but the furniture needed replacing or renovating. The tops of the tables were greasy and the furniture seemed old & tired.

There was free wifi access, although the owner did not seem too keen on us using it for some reason.

It's a shame because we could have given this B&B a better review, if the service we experienced during our stay was better.

LlangollenCharlie, Owner at Bryn Meirion B&B, responded to this reviewResponded September 25, 2012

Now that I have had time to calm down I decided to look through the other reviews submitted by the complainant.I find it strange that Bryn Meirion finds itself in the middle of a list of hotels in Hong Kong all written in September. The complainants visited Bryn Meirion in October 2011 but have waited 11 months to write this spurious review. Why is that?
There are certain statements which are untrue pertaining to their dogs.We have never asked guests to keep dogs in a crate. All we ask is that they have their own bed and bedding as we do not like dogs to be on the beds.Other guests may be allergic. Not all of our guests are dog lovers. Thus we expect responsible owners to keep their dogs out of the dining room when other guests are eating.
The mention of greasy tables and, dribbling shower are red herrings made up to give substance to their review.
If you compare all our previous reviews with this one I think you will agree this is pure pettiness on the part of the complainant because we expected their dogs to be under control..Is it unreasonable to expect our own pet to be allowed to come and go without fear of being chased. As for telling prospective guests about our cat he is quite clearly featured on Twitter on our home page.
The wi fi is freely available but we are obliged to warn our guests that we are responsible for whatever is downloaded.
The complainants at no time during their stay mentioned any of their subsequent and retrospective complaints and for reasons beyond comprehension have decided to complain now using a medium so open to abuse. It is the bane of so many B@B owners who have little hope of clearing their good name. Our only recourse is through this management response.
These guests seem to enjoy writing reviews on Tripadvisor.I wonder if they also write them in places where one has recourse to litigation.
We have many guests with dogs who return to our B@B but obviously they do not possess the keen eye for grease on tables or the desire for power showers so manifest in our complainants.

Had a lovely 2 night stay at the Bryn Meirion. Owners Jane and Mike were great hosts and very happy to give advice and to chat. The B&B itself is a wonderful old building with lots of character and fantasic pictures of sheep dotted about. Llangollen is beautiful and lively for such a small village. Would definately return if ever that way again. Rose and Laura, Isle of Man

Back down to Llangollen again at the weekend for another session of Gorge Walking. And again stayed at Bryn Merion B + B. Greeted as we arrived with tea and biscuits, consumed on the patio in the sunshine whilst taking in the fantastic views. Now with even more to see due to the removal of a few very large trees. Again nothing too much trouble, very comfy bed and enjoyable breakfast. Thanks again we will be back. Chris.

Bryn Merion is located about a mile from the centre of Llangollen in the Dee Valley and the hotel is surrounded by woods with lovely views over the Dee Valley which includes the river, canal and steam railway. It has sufficient parking space for all guests. Booking was done via eMail and Jane was very responsive and flexible, even recommending a local reliable taxi firm.
We stayed at Bryn Merion in mid-May with two friends who were visiting from Malta and on arrival, we received a very warm welcome from Dave who showed us around and as we were the only guests that evening, occupying two of the three available rooms, he let us have ‘free reign’ over which of the rooms we wanted. We chose the double with private bathroom and twin with en-suite bathroom. Both rooms were large, comfortable and nicely furnished and spotlessly clean with an abundance of tea and coffee available. Both had lovely views over the valley.
After a comfortable night’s sleep we were served with an excellent breakfast in the lovely conservatory. There were plenty of options for ‘starters’ before the full Welsh breakfast which was all freshly cooked and delicious. After breakfast both Dave and Jane were happy to chat about the area and their B&B business and we felt very welcome in their home. All in all a lovely stay at a B&B which fully deserves its 4 star rating from the Welsh tourist authority and we would have no hesitation in staying again, it was a shame we had only booked one night.

My wife and stopped for 2 nights with our little Jack Russell. We were made to feel very welcome by Jan and Mike. The room was really nice with lovely views of the surroundin countryside.
Breakfast was very nice served in a conservatory overlooking the garden and canal. Would definitely recommend and will be going again.
