Well enjoyed my two night stay !!!!! Staff so helpful Jim/Tim mended my TV straight away, and the lady showed me to the room she was so nice. Had an evening meal which was delicious both nights.little chef with glasses knew how to cook.restarant has not changed much in 2 years when i stayed last.Beds so comfy slept like a log!!!!
There was a stern lady behind the bar at one time during my stay long black hair, just calm down a little dear u will have more drinking customers.

Had a sunday carvery here today, staff were friendly and smiling when arrived. Good selection of fresh meats, yorkshire puddings, roasties, vegetables, sauces, and a tasty homemade gravy, just the way I like it.
All the food was fresh and I really dont understand the negative reviews on here. If you order processed foods then thats what you get. Same as a kids menu.
Small portions for a small price so why complain there's not enough.
There was a nice dessert menu and there was a glass cabinet in the restaurant where you could see the desserts before you ordered. The restaurant is seperate from the bar making it suitable for families or larger parties and theres a sun trap beer garden. Extremely good value for money and would HIGHLY recommend, there's no other carvery in Conwy and we will be returning here for sure!

We were recommended the George & Dragon by the staff at Conwy Castle. We were looking for good pub food for us and the kids. We found a table in the beer garden and my wife went inside to order. The fag butts floating in rain water buckets on the table put me off from the start. Meanwhile when ordering we were told there were no 'proper' chips only thin fries which we accepted as we were all hungry. At this point the older lady behind the bar asked the landlord (presumably) " have Iceland not been yet?" "no" he replied. Not a good sign!!! Swiftly the worst pub meal ever arrived! As simultaneously did the Iceland delivery driver, 'proper' chips were back on but alas too late for us! The cold steak & ale pie I was served was diabolical! I did send it back and it tasted even worse warmed up! However my wife's dry, tasteless cheese burger was truly laughable even down to the unmelted cheese single! They didn't even try to disguise it with any salad, sauce or relish. The kids ate their sausages (we paid extra for 2 each, apparently 1 should be enough) but were still starving by the end of the meal, & disappointed when we insisted that we would definitely not be having pudding. In fairness the young lady who took our order was very friendly. All in all though, why bother? Just sell beer.

I am sorry that you found your experience with us so disappointing.
The cigarette buckets are placed on the tables by the customers and although we do try to keep them away from the tables, customers repeatedly put them back to which it is very difficult for staff to keep on top of them.
Our burgers are cooked fresh to order and are served plain so that customers can put the selection of sauces that are available on their own burgers. This is in response to customers asking for plain burgers. I have taken on board about the unmelted cheese and I have spoken to the chefs about this so that this does not happen again in the future.
As regards the kids meals. We do of course offer these at £1-95 so it is affordable for families to eat out. There is a menu available for the smaller appetite which are half portions of full size meals priced at £3-50. Perhaps it may have been better for your children having one of these if they were so hungry.
Regarding the Iceland delivery. Like any other establishment we have to by some produce from a retailer and whether it be an Iceland delivery van or a Woodward frozen food van they would have been delivering the same produce. Ie chips. On this particular day we had been very busy and so had to request an immediate delivery of steak chips. However, again I have taken your point on board and try to arrange delivery when the pub is less busy.
Our home made steak and ale pie is the biggest seller off our menu and always has glowing reports back to the staff on how nice and tasty it is and we have never had any complaints about it before. I am sorry that you were disappointed with the portion that you had.

Recently had a great stay at this warm and friendly hotel, staff made us feel very welcome and we enjoyed good food ....comfortable rooms and beds.....well worth a visit. Conwy is beautiful at any time of year plenty of local attractions and lots of history if you don,t drive the local public transport is great and the surrounding area is fantastic.

We booked a room, on spec, at The George & Dragon for 1 night and paid £65.00 upfront in the bar before seeing the room - never again and a very big mistake. We were handed a key and headed up the toy-littered staircase to our room. The room we had was, to be quite frank, minging. It was dated, filthy and we didn't want to touch anything, never mind sleep in it. The following morning we went down to breakfast but the bar door was locked and there was a hand-written note on the door asking us to go across the road to the café for breakfast! We had a limited budget, but again, the café was really dated and the table-cloths had not been changed in months and were full of stains! The whole experience was dreadful and we will never pay for a room without seeing it first based on the George & Dragon at Conwy! Don't go!!

Thank you for your review
When our guests are checked in they have the opportunity to look at the room that they are booking before any money is paid. I can only assume that you declined this offer. However, if you felt the room was so bad you should have brought it to the attention of a member of staff and you would have been refunded..
I am confused with your comment about their being toys littered on the stairs to your room as there are no children in the building and certainly have never been any toys laden anywhere on the stair cases.
Also your description of the rooms being "minging". The rooms are thoroughly cleaned after each guest and we have never had any complaints about the cleanliness of any of the rooms. Again if you felt the room was so bad it would have been in your interest to bring it to the attention of a member of staff.
Breakfast is usually served in our own restaurant. However, on occasion when it is quiet we do use the Clemence Restaurant over the road from us. There is a printed not hand written notice on the door explaining this to our guests and the breakfast is included in the price you pay.
We have had no complaints from any other guests about the Clemence and we have a lot of repeat visitors.
As a result of your review an unannounced inspection was carried out by the brewery representative who has 20 years experience in the hotel trade. He found that the rooms were well decorated and with the new bedding in the rooms that they were fairly priced.

Have been here a few times now and always recieve a warm and friendly welcome. Good food at reasonable prices...plenty of choices on the menu. If you're staying here you're very close to all the local attractions...and there's plenty to see in Conwy and the surrounding area.
