Owner description: Built in the late 13th century and reputed to be haunted by a past resident, this picturesque castle was built for King Edward I and is a perfect example of the "concentric castle" design.

I visited Conwy castle as part of my Castles in Wales self tour visit, and Conwy was my favorite. The castle in ruins was preserved enough to hike up the many turrets and towers, explore the tunnels and hallways, and roam freely around the grounds. My next favorite castle was probably Caerphilly.

Well worth the time to explore. It was a walk back in time, and we enjoyed the freedom to investigate every tower and room

Beautiful castle with a lot of it intact still. Not much information around which is a shame as this was an important castle in its day. The chapel was particularly good with window seats in it looking out to the estuary. Great to stand by the walls and look across the bay and down to the little town of Conway. We were there late afternoon so didn't have long before it closed - will go again and see more of it. Would definitely recommend.

We went on a very cold and had light rain showers but still enjoyed climbing the towers, walking around the top of the walls and taking in the wonderful views.

Starting to see a trend with welsh castles being good value for money on entrance fees but almost no information regarding the castle on display to make the walk more interesting. Conwy Castle has a tiny bit of information on signs dotted around the castle. It seems like a ploy to buy guide books.

Shame really, would of loved this day out if we could have read more about the history.

We recently visited the Castle and found it very interesting. The castle is largely intact and visitors are allowed to walk along all of the walls and climb up the steps to the top of each tower. The inside spaces are full of atmosphere and are very evocative but the highlight for us was the climb to the top of the tallest tower and the rewarding 360 degree view, quite breathtaking. The souvenir shop and cafe are well thought out and add to the whole experience. I don’t think a visit to this area is complete without a stroll around Conwy Castle
