“Edward I's Citadel”
Reviewed December 9, 2013

The sheer scale and siting of this castle is stunning - and so old!
Climb the towers and walls and study the angles of views for spotting potential attackers - by water or land etc. Very impressive - but who provided all the labour? Surely not the English military?!

“lovely castle with loads open to the public”

Gorgeous castle that featured in the BBC drama Our Day Out. Lots to explore with a good kids trail. Not many info signs but very reasonable entry fee.
