There is quite a lot left of the castle, and you're generally free to roam around it, walk the walls, climb the towers etc. There are some excellent views to be had from the walls and towers.
I was disappointed by how little information there was though, especially having just visited Plas Mawr which had a free audioguide or laminated card to take around. We were offered nothing in the castle, and the few signs around the place only dealt with the taking of the castle by the Welsh in 1401. One board stated that the castle was built in a record-breaking 4 years, but did not say which years they were.
