“Welsh Lamb”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 8, 2014

Excellent food and service. The rack of Welsh lamb was incredible. It was delicious. Maybe the premises are a little tired looking but work is being done to update it. Very promising. Fabulous window view looking out across the river Usk and up the opposite valley.

“Good food”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 15, 2014 via mobile

Eaten here on numerous occasions and cannot fault the food. Not the cheapest in the area but you get what you pay for. Lovely views from the restaurant. Service seems to let this place down, little things like not being offered water for the table or not even having a check back to the table to make sure all is ok! The food keeps us coming back however.

“Disappointing”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 11, 2014

My husband and I went for Sunday lunch. We hadn't booked but they had a table for us. The staff were pleasant but the atmosphere in the restaurant was not. They obviously had their regulars which was glaringly obvious! We had Vegetable soup to start which was ok. Then we had the Beef Brisket. Plenty of Beef, five rock hard roast potatoes between the two of us. Then comes the the vegetables, which consisted of, three sprigs of Broccolli with cheese on. Two batter coated Cougettes? A few beans and some swede and carrot, all in the same dish! I couldn't eat the Yorkshire at all it tasted awful. Would never go back waste of money, poor quality!

“Save your money go elsewhere”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 11, 2014 via mobile

Went here for Sunday lunch had not booked so just arrived. First thing you notice is the food hygiene rating is 3. Staff were pleasant and we ordered a starter and a main course. 2 courses for £15.45. We ordered the country vegetable soup which came very quickly yet didn't taste of anything and looked more like carrot and coriander. So a disappointing start we ordered the beef for the main and we were not asked how we would like it cooked. It was a large piece of beef that arrived with a Yorkshire pudding and gravy the roast potatoes 5 in total for 2 of us which were well roasted and very hard. The vegetables came in a sort of stacked arrangement again not enough for 2 people.

The regulars seemed to have preferential treatment.

Would not return or recommend to anyone.

Goto the manor a few miles up the road much better food and £1 cheaper.

“Hold the kitchen staff”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 23, 2014 via mobile

We turned up right on 2pm and they went and asked the staff if they would stay on and cook for us which they did my friend had an asparagus pancake in a butter sauce and I had a pork loin with cherry tomatoes and rocket salad and an excellent balsamic dressing it tasted as good as it looked the service was excellent and I recommend it to you.
