We have eaten in many places but Venue 59 does the best ever beef and ale pie ever! The service is quick and polite, definetley worth the hour drive just for this meal.(Which we have done quite a few times!)

Thought we would give it a try having seen the rating on TripAdvisor. The food was OK, but nothing special. We may have gone on a bad day - Market Day, so it was very busy. Very little atmosphere. It is attached to a pub, and it feels like an edition to the original building rather than a restaurant in its own right.

We eat here on a fairly regular basis because we know that we always get good value for money. The meals are well cooked and substantial. The service is quick and friendly without being intrusive. The menu whilst not being over ambitious is very adequate if you like British food.

We have eaten here with friends in previous years at Christmas time but having seen the recent mixed reviews were a little hesitant this year. We needn't have worried!

The meals, starters, mains and desserts were beautiful and such good value. The staff were extremely efficient attentive and helpful.

Oh, and yes it is attached to the Kings head bar (a typical town bar which we like) but the restaurant is quite separate and an altogether different experience.

We went to venue 59
On a friends recommend it was for Sunday lunch
And I was blown away by the lamb I would go so far to say
It was the best I have ever eaten and was told by the waitress
It is slow cooked for five hours
You need to book a table a week in advance as its a very popular Place
But well worth the wait.
