Comfortable house with everything you could need. Beautiful view and surroundings. The children loved colleccting eggs and feeding the sheep.

“A lovely home in a truly beautiful setting”
Reviewed May 14, 2015 for a stay in May 2015

We’ve just returned from a surprisingly sunny weeklong stay at the White House and I’m absolutely gutted to have had to leave. A lovely, extremely comfortable, well-appointed house that feels like a home. Everything we needed was in place, and there were also some great recommendations and personal touches from the owners, Roz and Pip. The setting is absolutely stunning and I don’t think I could ever get bored of sitting in the garden, enjoying those views.

Abergavenny itself is a five minute drive away, the local Waitrose is excellent, and we had great days out visiting Crickhowell, Talybont-on-Usk, Brecon, the Brecon and Monmouth Canal, Caerphilly Castle, the Sugar Loaf vineyward, which is just around the mountain from Porth y Parc. Unfortunately we didn’t do much walking on this trip due to the make-up of our group, but I hope to return at some point as the walking must be fantastic.

Of Roz and Pips recommendations, we had a very nice lunch at the Crown in Panty Geli, a fantastic meal at the Felin Fach Griffin near Brecon, and an outstanding dinner at the Walnut Tree Inn.

I really can’t recommend the White House highly enough and Roz was a pleasure to deal with at every stage from the booking through to departure.

PS. We struggled to find Porth y Parc at first, but that was purely because I forgot to print-off the comprehensive directions provided by Roz, and couldn't get a mobile signal to check online. The wifi at the house was great, but we'd obviously already arrived by that point! So, make sure you print off Roz's directions before you set-off!

Liked best: The stunning views
Liked least: Struggling to think of anything...possibly the hens making a bit of noise in the morning, but the upside of that was free, fresh eggs, so can't really complain!

“Ideal in every way”
Reviewed April 12, 2015 for a stay in April 2015

The house was very clean, very well equipped the set in the most beautiful location. There were many little touches that made us feel that the owners cared about what they were doing for their customers and the environment. The house had a good layout for a family get together and was spacious compared to other similar properties. Thank you Roz and Pip for the de-stress!

“A lovely, comfortable home in idyllic Black mountain location”
Reviewed January 12, 2015 for a stay in December 2014

We stayed for Christmas week and enjoyed plenty of room for visits from our family. The house is beautifully appointed, well heated and perfect for a winter break. The owner's had decorated for the season including a large real tree, and there was a never-ending supply of logs for the wood-burner. The house is in a great location for hill walks and yet only 5 minutes drive from the shops of Abergavenny.

“Wonderful house, Breathtaking views.”
Reviewed November 2, 2014 for a stay in October 2014

There were 4 of us adults and a 17th month old granddaughter. The White House is a lovely warm and inviting house set in peaceful surroundings offering spectacular breath-taking views all round. There is every modern convenience throughout the house, wifi is provided free too. The under floor heating really spoilt us! Our hosts, Roz and Pip were friendly and supplied us with freshly laid eggs from the hen house, wine and the most scrumptious Welsh cake imaginable.
We were lucky with the October weather being so mild so we were able to get out and about walking and visiting further afield. We climbed Sugarloaf Mountain - its a must. We took the recommendation to visit the Crown pub in Pantygelli and weren't disappointed. A gentle walk of just over an hour or so there and the same back but the views along the way made the journey delightful.
We took our little granddaughter to Cantref Adventure farm and she really loved it - even at her young age there was plenty to keep her interested.
There is nothing to fault at the White House and the owners, Roz and Pip have worked so hard to ensure that all who stay there have a really special and relaxing time.
We highly recommend staying at The White House , Porth y Parc.

“Stunning location, luxury accommodation”
Reviewed May 21, 2014 for a stay in March 2014

A group of friends visited the White House for a short walking holiday. Lovely rural location with stunning views of Sugar Loaf mountain and Abergavenny nestling in the valley. Only a two mile walk down the hill to Abergavenny and a number of country walks straight from the back door. All the fun of the farm; black lambs;chickens wandering about, a variety of birds outside the kitchen window. Fresh eggs, home made cake. Excellent facilities, very comfy beds and Roz and Pip extremely helpful. Highly recommended.

“You'll no sooner arrive than be wanting to book your next visit.”
Reviewed May 21, 2014 for a stay in April 2014

Reviews already on the site seem to have covered pretty well everything one would want to say, and the stock of superlatives has been deservedly raided. Roz and Pip appear to have approached the appointing and furnishing of the White House in exactly the same spirit with which they set about the Old Barn - by thinking hard, down to the very finest detail, what THEY would want if they were staying somewhere, and then setting out to provide it for their guests, all at the very highest spec. I cannot recommend the White House too highly , nor speak too highly of Roz and Pip as people to do business with. Perfect holiday hosts.
