“A great cafe”
Reviewed August 5, 2014

I always go in this café when I visit the town. It was always very good when it was lazy days café and have always enjoyed the food. This is still the case and the revamp is good. The menu has changed a bit and it was a bit hard to find anything gluten free but the waiter helped with this. The meat rolls are fab so much meat and now comes with an enormous very taste salad. The staff are all very friendly. We did not wait long for our food but other tables did. They were very busy and were very apologetic to the people who were waiting. I will defiantly be going there again

“This used to be a great cafe ”

While I like the new retro 50s diner look & feel of this re vamped lazy days cafe turning it into a burger joint dose not work yes you can still get a roast dinner full breakfast & hot filled meat rolls along side burgers & hot dogs all a bit confusing we had to wait 15 mins for our pork & stuffing rolls even though there was only two other customers !!! Then the pork stuffing & apple sauce arrived with salad & coleslaw ? Wasn't even nice salad & the coleslaw was very cheap shop bought Perhaps that's why the price had home up by an extra £2.50 a roll now £6.50 to eat in & £3.99 take out. Such a let down now

“Atmosphere”
Reviewed July 23, 2014 via mobile

Popped in here on a visit to Abergavenny. The first thing that strikes you is the brilliant atmosphere. Jukebox playing in the background not too noisy but enough to be very foot tapping. Asked for a ice cream in a dish for my son as he can't manage a cone. No problem with this and I'm sure we had more than a cone's worth. Great visit - will be back.

“Falls short of the mark. ”
Reviewed July 12, 2014 via mobile

On a trip to see the lovely Brecon Park we stopped over in Abergavenny. This diner caught our eye, and we decided to give it a shot. It was a mistake.

Staff was nonplussed and we had 2 overpriced "thick shakes" which tasted of nothing but chemicals. Such a shame when you have local dairy producers!

Our main meal was a London-priced sandwich with exactly four ingredients: salad from a Tesco bag, crusty baguette (seemed supermarket as well), overcooked chicken with little taste and cheap mayonnaise. (pure white, as opposed to off-white for real mayo.)

When we went to pay and leave, staff struggled to operate the till.

We're giving two stars just for the friendly chap who served us, he was cheerful and nice. The food is not worth any stars.
