“Always satisfied”
Reviewed January 1, 2014

Although I work in London I spend one weekend a month in Abergavenny (long story) and have done so for years. Whenever time allows I like to visit the Lamb and Flag for Sunday lunch. It is very popular so I would suggest booking a table. The food is well-cooked, nicely prepared and delicious....so much so i'm salivating as I type! The waitresses and bar staff are polite and helpful, although because of it's popularity there is occasionally a short wait to be served. As a Londoner I am used to a restaurant being open all day on Sunday, but for some strange reason there comes a time in late afternoon at this venue when everything stops and there is a gap before the evening menu starts. Quite simply the staff disappear for a while. If this didn't happen I would be giving this venue an 'excellent' rating.

“Nice pub ”
Reviewed November 28, 2013 via mobile

My husband and I were staying at the sugarloaf vineyard that was just 5 minutes walk away. It was our last night and we just wanted something easy. I had the steak pie and chips which was really nice. Good place for a simple meal.

“Good clean hotel, great breakfast!”
Reviewed November 22, 2013 via mobile

Stayed overnight, room clean, bed comfy and an excellent shower.
Had evening meal in the restaurant, good quality but a bit pricey! Great ale from the bar.
All staff very friendly. Would definitely stay again!

“Sunday afternoon lunch”
Reviewed September 30, 2013

Called in on way home from a Sunday drive to Brecon. Outside looked promising. Very friendly young lady behind bar, but then the bad news no roasts left and only 50% of the menu to choose from.
Nothing to grab you on the menu so choose the steak & ale pie, my wife the scampi. They
arrived very quickly the pie microwaved so long unable to touch it for good 5 minutes as would of had no lips left. Scampi boringly presented. Despite being quiet waited 10 minutes for staff to clear plates. My wife made a choice from the deserts to be told none left. Time to give pay the bill no tip and wont be calling there again.
