As others have said a delightful, comfortable, pub/eatery tucked away in the back streets of Abergaveny. As my title suggests be certain that you are up for the portion sizes of the beautifully cooked food. If you're thinking about the bread and butter pudding save the breaded mushrooms for the next visit. I had a fillet of place, which obviously thought it was a skate by the size of it, so my wife and I could only share the said bread and butter pudding.

For fellow CAMRA travellers there's a nice pint of Rhymney as well as the Doombar. If we get another warm sunny Sunday like we had there's a very popular beer garden out back. There's also a convenient public car park just up the road.

We booked (018 7385 8939) and I can't see it getting any less popular - with a friendly host, attentive staff and really superb food.

The Grofield Inn is a great place to meet family, friends or just call in yourself.
The Staff are frindly and helpful.
The food is is great and you leave with a full belly unlike some of these dunlop, goodyear or some tyre company or other star restaurants. Here you will get a good choice of well cooked and presented food.
It was a bit too cold to try the beer garden but theres plenty of time.

Three members of the Cardiff branch of WUCM journeyed to Abergavenny to meet with His Excellency The President, and on his recommendation had lunch in The Grofield. There was a warm welcome from behind the bar from mine host who supplied us with tasty pints of Doombar. A most attentive lady took our orders and recommended the house white Rioja which proved to be delicious. The food was of a very high quality (we had 4 different mains) and was the bill came to less than £50. The Grofield is to be highly recommended. We shall return.

Best pub in Abergavenny. Nice welcoming staff. Beer is always top notch and decent value compared to any other in town. If you are there for any rugby international, great atmosphere, plenty of tv's, and free grub at full time. Top pub
